The problem is a lot of planes at that BR don't even have flares or counter-measures. Unless they are hard maneuvering it's a free kill.

It’s mostly premium users (like myself) we only have one tank at the br and are just using it for rp to grind up to top tier. I have a few tanks that i can use besides my single 11.3 premium (A1M🗿) but it’s quite literally the losat and wolfpack. Luckily im not too far from the chaparral so i can at least be slightly supportive

At 2:22, I love the use of Kinos Pachka Sigaret. I would have never of thought it being used in a @PhlyDaily video

The only thing to counter those missiles are either terrain or the missile malfunctioning

I'd say the Type 81 (c) has this thing beat. Because unlike this range can't protect you. Also staying low prevents this thing from utilizing it's photo contrast mode.

I'm stuck grinding with the stock shell... At 10.0+ it's really reaaaally painful. Same with the 2S25M I just got to beef out my 10.0 before going in. I could tell the B already a lot more survivable than the A... While mowing down ERA and spaced armor with my HEAT shell XD

I had the same thing as the intro happen on Alaska in my Ocelot with a Strella. We just spun doughnuts and everyone let us be.

Yea I was in my imp chaparral and became friends with a type 93 we just drove around the map then one of me team drove up on us and murdered the type 93

I request a video on the He 100! It's stupidly fast for 1.7, can hold 550+ km/h at deck no problem, excellent climber, only downside is it's engine likes to burn so keep an eye on the temp. Not too OP, and super fun! Bring it to a higher br for a challenge if you want (day 30)

i love that AA and i will tell you a lot of the kills i get with it are people who will flare and just stay still not try to flare and move around but just pop flares and stay hovering or flying straight no movement to dodge

War thunder is just simply the closest game to the RL. Russian vehicles are also very good performing, you cant say that Russia should only have junks. Already except the high tier, russian vehicles are far behind the western counter parts, you face Leopards with IS-4.

No shot. Just watched this between matches. My last match ran into a anti tank. Out of ammo on my aa, we did a few circles then agrred to go 9n our way. Nost wholesome moment ever

The fact that they gave this Photocontrast, while having the best missile of it's BR range with 20G overload and TRIPLE the explosive mass of Stingers and DIDN'T MOVE IT FROM 9.3 is criminal. If you are painted against the sky, the missile will not give a single fuck about flares. Attackers like the A-10, A-4, G.91s, etc need the altitute in order to spot and guide/lock their munitions and this thing is certain death to them. The only way to dodge the missile is to be near the ground and spam flares. This thing faces 8.3 planes for crying out loud, almost none of them have flares, come on. I am all for slapping CAS out of the sky but this thing needs to be moved up or other SAMs need to be moved down.

I play nothing but anti air in top tier and from what I can tell gaijin kinda has every anti air messed up. Both the strela and type 93 has the wrong explosive filler as with most missiles out there. Stinger is 1 kg mistrals with 3kg (on par with 9M37M the strela uses) and things like the TOR supposed to be having 15 kg but in game only 5 kg. Anyways, aside from G limits on every missile being obviously wrong, the most discerning is how gaijin equates the type 93 seeker photocontrast mode the same as the strela. The Strela has a simple camera that can't be used at night and without any terrain. The type 93 on the other hand is supposed to have the same thing but with UV which eliminates the problems above but in game... it doesn't.

I mean, isn't this what Gaijin does? Adds features half-assedly? Look at 3UO8 for example, it's not meant to be HE-VT in real life, it works more akin to how AHEAD works on the Puma, yet the Puma is stuck with a shitty HE-TF round that's useless, while the 2S38 gets HE-VT. Both vehicles are missing their respective FCS that tracks targets and programs the rounds to explode near said target, Puma (and other 35mm Oerlikon equipped vehicles) do this via induction at the end of the barrel (that's what the funny muzzle brakes are, they're not muzzle brakes) while the 2S38 does it via laser. But it's fine when Russian vehicles get them... @@yuuntoLSNTD

@@Pawniac I have some belief that part of it is because of their very old game engine that can't quite get something like that to work but to that degree I could say maybe implement a temporary solution to be like proxy but.. they don't? Both vehicles are at 10.0 now and I could not care enough because I play only anti air but could both not have the same comparable features if both have the same purpose of those HE shells? I also believe that there is in part russian bias mostly because of these decisions they do but also the background of their nationalities. Their employees are mostly russian and I don't have anything against them but their biases i cannot prove or disprove. However, if there is one entity that can dictate that easily it is the russian government itself. You may or may not know but gaijin can technically get trialed for "discrediting the army" in the same manner some employees at wargaming did. I think this fact partly influences why they do these things but again thats just my own theory. Sure you can chalk it up to the 2S38 being a premium and thus a money maker but eh I see no reason why they would not just do something as simple as a temporary fix across the board.

Funny your video comes up now... I've unlocked the Strela as my very first missile SPAA like two weeks ago. It's sooooo enjoyable clapping CAS easy mode. It's not a miracle weapon though as seen in the video, there are cases where it can be evaded rather easily... Some maps too. Big open clear skies in wide open maps tho hehehehehe MWAHAHAHA... There's something cathartic about watching the missile fly away like an ADHD kid in a candy store to the inevitable demise of flying pixels desperately trying to evade (or just plain target fixated and BOOM)

A nerf for the missile seeker is long overdue. It basically has irccm which is just so stupid. The seeker head is too small, and in some cases even from 5km you can’t flare it. The fact it’s 9.3 is even more absurd, since it faces a lot of flare-less jets. This thing is in every match I swear, it’s just spammed so much…

To be fair, flares don't seem to work on any surface-based IR missiles except the Type-93's Type 91 SAM. And the fact that the Strela has neither the manoeuvrability nor the small-hideable-profile of the Ozelot, or any other weapon system like the LAV-AD or SIDAM makes 9.3 seem pretty reasonable to me.

@@yatokami7907Ozelot at 9.7 with 10G missiles and no photo contrast mode while the Strela sits at 9.3? Seems a little silly to me. Albeit, the Ozelot’s Stingers have more range from front aspect. Maneuverability means very compared to the HUGE difference in lethality.

The fact that pre-flaring in a Buccaneer doesn’t prevent an Ozelot lock, nevermind a Strela lock, is why I often prefer to play outside of that BR range in ground rb if possible.

This thing is better than the Pantsir, it has good enough range and takes out human error, it's also much smaller. A good CAS player will play with a Pantsir like a cat playing with its food, but it won't do the same with the Strela if it gets within a few KMs of the battlefield

I feel like they buffed it recently, as a couple of weeks ago it used to be impossible to lock helis even when flying away from me, and planes were questionable until like 2.5km, now it annihilates choppers and jets out to like 3.5km

They introduced the photocontrast mode in the last update (along with the choice of photo / IR lock-on or letting the game decide automatically for you), this is what helped a lot I believe. The best way for planes to evade photocontrast is terrain... Clouds would work too I imagine.

Compared to other AA at this BR or even higher, the strela is incredibly OP imho. I play mostly sweden and yes the swedish AA might be better against helicopters but if the russian pilot knows what it's doing it's almost impossible to shoot down with the beam riding AA. They either need to nerf the strela or move it up in BR.

I recently unlocked the German Mi-8, and at least with auto cannons I have the opportunity to dodge and hang low. With the Strela I just have to give up :,) And the German’s ATGMs for the Mi-8 are dog. The Malyutkas are slower than a maus, and paired with the helicopter’s mobility I feel they’re worthless

How do I hold my barrel at a certain place with tanks that have a commanders sight? In low tier tanks I can just press C to look around, but in higher rank vehicles this just opens the commanders view.

Well, if it goes up to 10.0 It better have All aspect at 6km instead of 3km and rear aspect at 11km instead of 6km + TVD + IRCCM + 35G missile +5.4kg of tnt instead of 1.6kg + 955 m/s instead of the 700 m/s and if you want it to be 9.7 you better give me a gun with APDS

@@mmneaapro596 the lavad is at 10.0 and doesn't have those stats, the ozelot, gepard 1A2 and Sidam mistrals are at 9.7 and don't have those stats. The strela has better missiles than all those AA's and is at 9.3, the same br as the chaparals and machbet 🤦
