Love it, thanks so much for all the effort you put into breaking all these little projects down for us beginners. Please keep up the great work!! ❤
I'm so excited to carve this for my grand niece's 2nd birthday! Her 1st bday was the original bear you taught. This one will be "baby bear" 🐻 yay!
Thank you Doug. Really having fun with the 1x1 whittles.
Hi Doug!! Perfect timing to sit and relax after a morning of chores- love your little tutorials and the bears are too cute🐻 Thanks a bunch 🥰

Gooood afternoon from central Florida! Hope everyone has a great afternoon!
Loved it Doug, a fun cute project.
Great fun carving. Thank you! I will carve a bunch of these.
Thank you Doug, for such a wonderful video. In my humble opinion I think it was one of the best explained and demonstrated tutorials I have ever seen. You have totally excelled, even yourself. Thanks again.
at age 72 i have started carving, first dabled in Kohlrosing basket weave on Opinel knife handles for xmas presents. then on to spoon and spatula carving in butternut and cherry with a kohlrosing palm or sunflower to adorn the handle. now i have ordered basswood, a 1 3/4" knife , and acrylic paint to try doing chararacutures. my first will be the bear, will be a gift for a nieces daughter . thank you Doug for being such a good teacher and showing many people how to start in woodworking. i am one step ahead of the game because i have sharpened my own knives for work and play for nearly 50 yrs.
The darker green helps greatly. Thanks

Always excited to get one of your notifications. I'm really learning lots seeing how efficient you are with your cuts! That green background helps along with the way you pause at various points for us to see where you are at! Thank you for sharing!

it's only been alittle over a week since the comfort bird video but for some reason people didn't see or get notified
Thanks Doug!!
These are so easy and quick to make...... just perfect to make as gifts. Love them 💗 🏴 Thanks as always for sharing your talents. Much appreciated.
Hey Doug just want to thank you for all your awesome videos. I’ve been following you for a few years now and you got me into carving and I love it. Loving your one by one series and I carved three little bears for my granddaughters and they love them. Keep up the good work and I appreciate it.
Thanks again Doug, I am loving these 1x1 projects.
Doug. Would love to see a 1x1 series squirrel.
I really like your carving and your lessons. If there is anything I'd like to see improved, it is to make sure thing the camera is more in focus... maybe it's just my eyes or the quality of my monitor, but things often (at least in this video) seem just a little cloudy and not sharp. I do appreciate it when you hold your carving steady now and then after making cuts, so the viewer can get a nice look at your work. Thanks for another gr8 video... you're my inspiration. My gkids love the little gifts!
Stoked for your article!
Fantastic carving video, doug . Thanks for sharing ❤️
Thanks!
Love your work!
first bear was a 2" by 2" by 4" tall bear standing on a stump. took a long time and was well worth it. people marvelled that i could create such a thing. So did I ! now i am going to start on a 1" by 1" hillbilly. A great tool for layout and measuring is the General Tool model 300/1 6" flex precision stainless steel rule ( Amazon ). Rule Is wonderful for measuring and you turn the pocket clip around and crimp it just a tad so it fits tighter on the rule and it is a T square for marking lines around the wood. the width of the rule is 1/2" so it works well for drawing vertical centerlines on 1" by 1" blocks of wood. my first carving knife is a occt 1 3/4" and the 2 1/4" version i needed for the 2" bear i carved is ordered. Thank you Mr. Linker for youe videos and on to starting my 1 by 1 hillbilly!
Another great little tutorial, autumn is nearly upon us which means carving time again, cheers from across the pond.
Look at all those 1x1 carvings on your shelf!!! Wow. And "bearbell" should become a thing...
Thanks Doug. These are fantastic.

Hermoso trabajo
Dad joke alert!…bear bell! Lol
Congratulations on your magazine article.
I have done 6 carvings this week. Three bears, two Gnomes , and a Mr. K Santa. I am having a blast! My favorite knife between the two OCCT carving knives i recently purchased is the 1 3/4" original walnut carver. I purchased the 2 1/4" for carving 2" blocks of wood and I do not like it as well as the smaller knife. Glad i seen this channel and went with Dougs favorite Occt whitler.
These are great Doug ..You are giving the beginners and intermediate a chance to really enjoy carving in itself ..These projects are wonderful ..Thank you my friend
As a Senior Safety Advocate at Bell Helicopter I am about to have a stroke watching you do this without proper PPE. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
Thanks 💰💰🧸🧸🧸🧸🧸
In my violin shop I taught a number of employees how to carve the things which were necessary. I'd say, "Carve with your fingers. Not your arms". Your repeated advice, phrased a bit differently here, is great....hopefully people listen and won't cut themselves.
Doug. Really love your channel. Been watching loads of your old videos. The trips are great and the silent series are fantastic. Just subscribed to woodcarving illustrated. Thanks

It seems like in the first few seconds of every video you create I start laughing at your silly carvings. They're serious carvings, but very funny. I know it's the humor is helping to drive me to try learning to carve, but I also remember my relatives of old whittling on the porch. 😊 The wood I initially got and told you about was very hard despite soaking in water two days. It got fuzzy and was still hard. Alcohol didn't work either. I ordered new wood from an American company who didn't say they got it from China whom I don't like, trust or want to do business with. Later today I'll try the new wood, but that's another company I won't reorder from. 😮
Hey Doug. Could you teach me how to add the vest, t-shirt, tie or any other clothing please? Loving this series
🌟Thanks Doug!🌟 Had to go out and buy the ✨magazine✨ just as you suggested! Absolutely appreciate you taking the time to share your awesome bear carvings! I’m with you on leaving the claws off of the carvings…. When you see a real Bear you never see the claws unless it’s in the attack mode! From UTAH!
Отличный мужик 👍🏼 не зная Английского я все понимаю ♥️❤
I like how you made one that looks like Winnie the Pooh.
❤
thats cool! think he needs a tail though
Have you made a bird yet? Birdy
😁👍🏼
Where can I get the 2x1x1 inch blocks wood craving blocks? For mini bears and hillbillies?
Lol do the bear bells come in 1 pound weight???
why does your knife cut like butter through the wood? I know it's sharp but I can't get my knife to do it. Seems like it makes it so much easier/better to work with.
awesome! love listening to you and watching you carve its very calming! although i didn't rewind to check but at one point you looked like you cute ur finger but you never seemed to bleed so it must of just been a miner wound or it was a scare i didn't notice before that!

Sorry!! Wich wood do you use to carve. My wood is too hard and I see your videos and for you is too soft...😂 Thanks (i watch you from Spain!!🎉)
Hi say the measurements in cm too pls
Woooooo first comment! # dougs the best
Do you plans to carve a rolling bear
Link doesn't work anymore. 😪😪
Not sure how he got his feet in there😉
have you ever carved a dog? A puppy would be adorable.
Gradioso trabajo te manda un beso en el pedorro saludos
It's like watching Bob Ross but he be whitlin' wood instead of paintin' with paint. I feel my blood pressure properly regulated. Now I need me some wood, a knife, and some bandages to make me a "happy little bear". 🔪❤🩹
