It's almost like people were dancing to music before cartoons were a thing.

I love the way this song has played in lots of old cartoons.

I always remember the Bugs Bunny and Tom and Jerry episodes that based the song around it. Never knew it almost a recurring piece for a lot of other animated shorts as well.

This song used to be so popular in other cartoons

Funny thing, Friz Freleng must have been a big fan of the song given the number of Looney Tunes shorts he directed which used it, including Rhapsody in Rivets, Rhapsody Rabbit, and Back Alley Oproar.

I recall a version with the Shoemaker and the Elves. It was online once and now it's a memory.

I just wanna say, thank you for making a better version of this list! I've seen the other one a lot but I knew there were other ones out there. If we ever get a full copy of Philharmaniacs (1953) online then you'll have to add that to the collection! For now, thank you for digging deeper and finding more cartoons that this was used in.

Philharmaniacs happens to be available by way of KZreadrs Chris Smalls and Matt Skwarek. That was also shown in Famous Studios' The Animal Fair without the "Alexander's Ragtime Band" singalong. The first half of the latter cartoon also had scenes from "Fun at the Fair" (also on YT) without "Wait Till the Sun Shines Nellie".

There is one cartoon I'm looking for one with the Hungarian Rhapsody #2, it has to do with a vacuum cleaner that inhales a case of whiskey under a floor vent and gets drunk. I suspect it may be a later Walter Lantz. I've seen it at least twice when I was very young, and have not been able to find it since.

Tom & Jerry was MGM, not Warner Bros. (Though, because of the way things worked out in terms of acquisitions over the years, Warner Bros. Discovery actually owns T&J these days. Though it wouldn't surprise me at all if Amazon, which owns MGM these days, were to at least make an offer to buy them back.) But to answer the main question, the pianist who recorded the version used for the Tom & Jerry cartoon was named Calvin Johnson. And it is a superb recording of the piece, no doubt.

Classical music was made for animation!

I'm looking for the one where they parody the song by singing about a pizza a tasty pizza...

Whenever I hear the lyrics I sing the lyrics to Daffy's Rhapsody.

I know right, I hate so much the references they do now. I know it shouldn't be that personal, but it's just SO... lame! So desperate! So simply unfunny in general! Family Guy was meant to be "modern Simpsons if it was actually funny", but it ended up just like them from season 7 and so forth.
