This cartoon’s art style is very reminiscent of graffiti art and I really dig it

I saw Chop Socky Chooks and I got flashbacks to when there was a tornado warning and me and my siblings were huddled in basement crying while my dad put this on the TV to try to get us to stop crying while he talked on the phone with our mom who was at work. That's all I remember of this show. Watching it, huddled in our cold basement, crying and thinking we were gonna die and this was the last cartoon we were ever gonna see. (I also remember and watched Skunk-Fu)

This show was gods gift to earth, I used to watch this as a kid and holy hell it was banging! I remember in the Swedish Dub that the afro dude swore once, arguably the best time of my life.

The minute I heard “Skunk Fu” my eyes lit up, that show was my JAM as a child! And there was even a time before that when I was a huge “Sushi Pack” fan, now that’s a show I wish got more coverage!

Chop Socky Chooks feels like if a farmer watched about 10 Godfrey Ho Movies and then fell asleep dreaming about chickens

I remember that one episode where Wasabi owned both a fast food restaurant and liposuction clinic. Customers would get fat on the burgers and then go to the clinic to lose the weight. The now thin customers would then go back to the restaurant to get fat and start the cycle over again. If I also recall, the burgers were cooked in the fat extracted from the clinic.

Ah yes, the Kung Fu Chickens, as they're known in Italy. I used to watch this show in loop because late at night it was one of the very few that kept repeating on some channels. For some reason, I kept watching and re-watching even after realizing I knew every single episode by heart. This is so bizarre.

I always loved how many silly, surreal, and experimental shows came out in the early 2000's. People really don't go for that sort of stuff anymore, which is an incredible tragedy. I remember watching this show, I remember Skunk Fu, High High Puffy Ami Yu show, etc.

I swear to god, I remember that airing like late at night, then just stopped airing without a word. I spent years trying to find it, wondering if it even existed or it was just a show child me had just made up or was remembering wrong.

I’d collect vinyls of these characters in a heartbeat. I remember really liking the aesthetic of this show back in the day.

I wasn't a fan of this show back then, I was only watching it briefly but it does get me nostalgic seeing it again. I almost forgot about it. Still, even though they didn't always land, I gotta appreciate the diversity of CN's shows in the 2000's. Modern cartoons all kinda blend in to me.

Nah man, you're not alone. I loved Skunk Fu and remember it pretty vividly, alongside other obscure/short-lived cartoons I watched as a kid.

Animation is kinda bad

Fun Fact: The buck tooth, slant eyed, round glasses Japanese character comes from roots in WW2 Propaganda. That Japanese guy is a caricature of Hideki Tojo, the Japanese Prime Minister at the time. "Tojo" became a slur against the Japanese for this reason.

@@nullno3722 I didn't quote Tojo. I gave a fun fact about where the most infamous Japanese stereotype in animation comes from. At 6:30 Pan puts up a clip from an old propaganda cartoon from WW2 or shortly thereafter. That's why I prefaced the whole thing with "Fun Fact"

1-800-buttermycrops I mean you shouldn’t really bust it out in polite company (people might look at you confused and vaguely disgusted), but “Jap” held on far longer as an obvious dig at Japanese people. “Tojo” had its brief period in and around WW2 because of the political association to PM Tojo. It’s still a Japanese name, so it’s not exactly something that’ll stay offensive for very long.

I remember back when I was a kid they used to air this late at night in the UK, seeing this vod brought back a lot of memories

The style kinda reminded me of this game “De Blob” that I played around the time this came out

HOLY FUCK! I remember seeing an advert or something for that game years ago, it look real good but I never picked it up. As years went on I forgot the name but could still remember the look of it. loving the art you use for transitions ect

Finally someone acknowledges this show's existence. I remember seeing it back in the day and it falling into obscurity because nobody talked about it. Next time, you should check out Hero 108 or The Secret Saturdays or some of the other forgotten Cartoon Network shows

Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember The Secret Saturday's had promotions for the show that lasted for a solid 2-3 years before actually airing the show. The first year of promotions were only accessible on the internet on their website. The show itself was tight though.

It's a bit late, but because I keep getting notifications, I want to give some background: I grew up in Hawaii where in public schools, casual racism is hot amongst kids. Nothing violent, just kids yelling put slurs because it was funny. The slurs however, would get really obscure. Like, names that were originated before Hawaii became a state (I blame my Hawaiian studies teacher :p). The most obscure slur for Chinese people are Pah Keh, which no one outside of my elementary school uses.

This show reminds me of how cartoons of the early 2000s have thick outlines. A forgotten art style, and a vibe that would probably never be seen again.

This show, this show both traumatised me, AND was my childhood and I am so glad I found it again.

I will never forget the liposuction episode of this amazing and strange show

American Chuckie Chan sounds like Yoda.

I’m so glad I found this video. It seems that everyone I’ve ever met has never heard of this programme, it’s like I experienced this as a fever dream.

just like to mention a big plot hole that was never really addressed: how the hell does nobody recognize them when they're off the clock from their hero work? I mean they don't even wear masks or anything, their faces are completely exposed and yet the moment they put a hat on, it's like they become entirely different people.

You'd be surprised. Superman gets away with a suit and glasses, and that in and of itself is enough to throw off many people's perception when comparing bland Daily Planet employee Clark Kent to the larger than life image of Superman, because Superman wouldn't be able to just put on a suit and glasses and act meek to hide all of that, right? There's even a joke that Lex Luthor is aware of the resemblance, but he refuses to believe that Superman would ever lower himself to the level of Clark Kent because the idea is just too ludicrous to him.

I only remember one scene from it, but not the name of it. Something along the lines of the snake saying he can only smell with his mouth open, and the skunk spraying his mouth making the snake pass out. This was a mid 2000’s kids show, potty and toilet humor is to be expected.
