That Futurama episode was heavily inspired by the true story and movie called "Hachiko" An incredibly sad story about a loyal dog who continued to wait for it's owner outside of a train station after he died at work as a university professor. Amazing film, but very sad. I cried

Definitely Courage the Cowardly Dog's villians have one of the most original designs ever, even when they're low budget, those Salvador Dalí's like shapes and the contrast of that "bad" CGI and the normal 2D animation, makes it completely unsettling, almost like King Ramses or the "Perfect" Blue creature aren't even part of the show, which makes it unbeliveably eerie, and i couldn't love it more.

Everything about that show is a fully creative, never seen before kind of nightmare. Incredible.

My favorite episodes of SpongeBob are “Arrrgh!” and “Rock Bottom”. They are both aesthetically darker episodes than the rest of the series, both having the climaxes taking place at night, in the dark. Rock Bottom was mostly dark. They both have a more existential feeling to them, similar to SB-129, which is also tied for my favorite episode of SpongeBob, and TV in general.

I'm not usually a "Cartoons gave me childhood trauma" type of guy, but the Ramsey's ghost in Courage has definitely stayed with me since I saw it when I was a kid. Something about that early millennium CG just makes it all even more spooky! Great show though!

the tom and jerry episode that traumatized me was the one tom "dies" and goes to heaven's gate but he's not allowed in. the kittens in a sack still hit me to this day

To me it was the guillotine one. Brazilian TV used to play T&J reruns regularly and I'd run away from the room whenever I saw the musketeers outfit. It has something in common with the train one: a serious, non-funny death.

I feel like we only realised now that we’re grown up, how weird the characters really were. It’s also interesting how well they incorporated horror in to a kids show and was still one of the most popular kids show on tv. Also made me wonder if this was my first reason for being in to horror flicks lol

I love Ren & Stimpy. What's amazing is that the full unedited episodes were on Nickelodeon and after the show went off air and returned to MTV the episodes were trimmed drastically. Courage the Cowardly Dog is the "scariest" cartoon created as a series. I used to keep on watching those episodes while eating hotdogs with ketchup. I was feeling weird everytime King Ramses says "RETURN THE SLAB OR SUFFER MY CURSE". It's very creepy and weird at the same time. And the second episode that he mentioned wasn't traumatizing. I was getting so much sad memories by how Courage lost his parents. Tom and Jerry's Blue Cat Blues was not traumatizing but it's sad. I can't imagine me being Tom and then committing suicide. I feel bad for him...

To be honest the episode of the crazy veterinarian getting mauled to death wasn’t scary, but it was satisfying because not only did he realize his experiment was an utter failure but how all the dogs including Courage’s parents finally got revenge against the man who got them stuck on the planet

I remember watching that pingu episode when i was about 5 or 6 and i actually thought the walrus was funny. I loved pingu growing up and i still do despite its odd presentation. I grew up with weird shows and this one always cracked me up

Courage the cowardly dog is my childhood and when I was a kid, I was extremely disturbed by the show, especially the horribly bad but creepy 3D cgi. But I still love the show

Flapjack was extremely ahead of its time and you can't change my mind, also Courage was easily one of the best animated shows ever

The only thing I was traumatized about were scary things such as that creepy seal from Pingu, but not really in regards to more adult subject matters. But one episode wolf spongebob that always frightened me was the accident episode where everyone was getting beat up by a giant gorilla in a costume

The “pingu’s dream” scared the heck out of me when I was 5 or younger, I didn’t even want to go to the basement in my house for some reason. It not that scary anymore at all.

Same, when I was younger, I was very afraid of that part, so I used to go to my room to avoid watching that part.

As a kid I was obsessed with courage the cowardly dog and as I got older I realized how utterly terrifying the show really is. If you made a video on just courage the cowardly dog I know for a fact I would binge it the second it’s released.

Jurassic Bark seems to be based off of the real life story of Hachiko, the loyalist dog in Japan. Hachiko (also known as Hachi) would always obediently wait for his owner to return from work at the train station his owner took. One day the owner had a fatal heart attack at work and never came home, but every single day for 12 years Hachi went to the train station, sunrise to sun set, just to wait for his owner to return. Hachi was such a regular that people at the train station took care of him and even made Hachi a memorial statue when Hachi died. The statue still stands where Hachi would sit waiting for his owner to return to this day.

I have come to say, that no one has mentioned the episode "I Had An Accident" where two side characters are _brutally_ _assaulted_ by a gorilla, and the main character is *literally* *torn* *in* *half* _on_ _screen_ by said gorilla. Yes, there are other episodes that could be scarier, but this episode should be recognized, both for its unadulterated brutality and the main characters (and potentially some young viewers) developing pithecophobia. (No, _I_ don't have pithecophobia, but I am sure _someone_ does because of this episode).

Why did they make the Walrus in Pingu look so human? I wouldn't be surprised if they made the Walrus creepy on purpose...

When that deer stood up and took off the hooves and wiggled its human hands... and when Jake was genuinely BONKERS.... very unsettling haha Also apparently my older brother was genuinely scared of some Scooby Doo episodes. My sister was always freaked out by the gargoyle movie(?)

Crazy, I actually liked all of these episodes. I found them “disturbing” or “creepy”. None of these have ever traumatized me whatsoever, I’ve enjoyed every one of them. For me, Courage and Ren & Stimpy will hold a special place in my heart always, those two shows especially were so hilarious 🤣

One episode that traumatized me as kid was that one episode of flapjack where flap has to go down in bubbys stomach to help her with her stomach pains just to find an old lady making apple pie with her internal organs and stabbing the needles into her stomach

And that one with the guy who's voice gets deeper and more demonic and aggressive as his face/eyes changes colors 💀 I don't remember the episode or what it was about, but that scene always kept me up at night

The scariest thing about the walrus in Pingu's dream is that it plays with Pingu. And seal are known for toying with and playing with there food.

I remember watching that pingu episode on a slightly damaged VHS tape. The flickering and occasional dark frames made the whole thing 10x more terrifying

most animes aren't for kids, though some are, ex: Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh, but those animes weren't really for kids, it was just heavily censored and westernized to turn it into a children's anime

King Ramses was the stuff of nightmares for me. I was too scared to even finish that episode when I was a kid.

OMG! So Pingu was also on TVO Kids in Canada and it was one of my fave shows as a really young kid (4ish), I 100% remember this episode! I don't think I cried but I was definitely freaked out!

The Tom and Jerry episode made me not understand what was happening as a child. But I realized it when I've gotten older, I completely understood what Tom and Jerry were going through.

I turned this video on because I saw my brother watching a video with clay penguins and it reminded me of this video which mentioned pingu. Yep, he was watching pingu.

I remember watched this 2:05 as a kid and thought it was normal and funny but when i grew up i found this kinda creepy but still, Pingu is my childhood cartoon show.

I actually am happy you included that Futurama episode because I do remember seeing that as a kid. I remember watching Cartoon Network spending the night at my grandparent's house and thinking I was still watching the kids programming because I didn't know what Adult Swim was at the time. This was the first thing that came on after the disclaimer for Adult Swim. I was curious so I gave it a watch. As a child who never cried in movies or TV shows, I was emotional after that episode was over. Seeing the dog waiting outside the pizza place brought me to tears. Yeah, after that I was more aware of when it was time to turn the TV off and go to bed.

One thing that shocked me as a kid was the one simpsons episode where homer finds the rotten corpse of smithers father in the pipe. It was just so unexpected

The Courage episode legit gave me nightmares as a kid. I couldn't sleep alone for a month

if you ever make a sequel, i reccomend including "Dark Harvest" from Invader Zim, which involves the protagonist brutally harvesting organs from school children (shown multiple times on-screen). this episode is very well known and is what boosted the shows fame, as a murderer stated in court that the episode inspired him to kill his neighbor and collect his body parts. this episode isnt the only disturbing part of the series. in fact, other episodes could be mentioned too. in the christmas special alone, Nickelodeon recieved 103 called complaints about the episode's contents. episodes have included vivisections (Bloaty's Pizza Hog), experiments remeniscient of nazi experimentation (Lice), eyes being ripped out (Bestest Friend), and violence such as on-screen mutilation, injury and death are common to see in most episodes.
