Carter Picking is a style of playing developed by Maybelle Carter, where the melody is generally played on the bass strings of the guitar while accompanying yourself with the treble strings.
It's a really fun style to play, and is deceptive in it's simplicity! These nine exercises will get you going with this technique, which is a foundation of country guitar playing.
