i heard the main reason why these guys never got mass produced was because they were too delicate and expensive to make. do you think that would be more possible today with modern technology and parts?

Not many as far as I know, With these rolling out In 1985 It wouldn't have been long till budgets got cut. They did have plans to roll out a miniature Fatz and Mitzi bot but those never materialized.
