This was the song that sealed the competition for her when she sang this as an idol contestant. Simon’s prediction of her not only winning the competition but selling more records than any other idol winners before her after her performance was spot on. She sounds even better here than when she sang this as an idol contestant. Glad she was able to do this full cover.

Carrie got to perform this on stage with Heart.. It was amazing. Carrie held back on her power out if respect, but here you get to see her unbridled power. I've always lived her music and style. Like how she pulls back on the mic when she hits those power notes. On idol she was a bit nervous so she held it in some, and she was time constrained too.

That is why Jamie Fraley was Carrie's backup singer for so long. She knew when to harmonize with Carrie and not to. And Jamie knew when not to go up high, when Carrie went really high. If you notice when Carrie went really high, Jamie's look said no thanks, she knew Carrie could go extremely high, where Jamie can't go.

Everybody knew that about Carrie when she was on Idol. Simon just said what everybody was thinking and Idol producers are still ticked at Simon for saying it. Idol producers were trying to keep the drama but, Carrie pretty much remove the drama. Every contestant knew, except Carrie, that Carrie was going to win it.

Backup singer from her American Idol performance is still miles better...

Carrie Underwood is incredible!! Anyone who can sing an Ann Wilson tune like that has got to be God-gifted!

Legend has it that they had to redo the walls the next day because Carrie's vocals tore the paint right off. I'm not particularly much of a Carrie Underwood fan but I get tears in my eyes and goosebumps on my skin every time I hear her sing this song. Fucking amazing

I wish Carrie makes a Pop-rockish album and cover this. She may be the Queen of the Country Music but she is unappreciated by country music awards.

That background singer SAAAAANNNGG!!! What the? Who is she? I mean... I love Carrie... but DAMN! That background vocalist SLAYED the high harmony! What an extraordinary voice!

The reason, this song fits Carrie so well. Carrie has the power to get up there, where a singer needs to get up high and Carrie gets up there without any trouble.

If anybody has the pipes like Ann Willson it is Carrie Hunderwood. Only Carrie can sing this song and do it right outside of Ann.

for Carrie to be sick while singing this, and still do this good is amazing. i will always love watching this performance! :)

For those who have had doubts about Carrie, her voice, was she in the big league vocally, or mainly just another pretty face - performing this particular song - which Ann Wilson owns - so well and with such power and range - definitely serves as proof that Carrie is the Real Deal. Major Talent....

I like the fact that reporters have stop challenging Carrie. Telling Carrie, you can't do this type of song or that type of song. Carrie then goes out and performs those type of songs that were mentioned. Reporter have simple given up doing that.

I think Carrie surprise everybody with this performance. Since everybody, who watched Carrie performed it on Idol. But that 90 second clip. Where as here, it is the full version of it.

My favorite of all time.

If you notice at the end of this video. When Carrie holds onto the word "Alone" for so long. Jamie stop singing, like smile and look like, no thanks. I am not doing that. That is the main difference with Carrie and other singers. Carrie can hold it for so long. And lot of other singers can't do that. Of course, she did that a few times on Idol, and Paula said very few artists can do that.

How can someone be that beautiful and talented? 🤷‍♂️

Everybody knows that song, she did so well on Idol and Heart paid her the ultimate compliment by having her sing it with them.

Next to Ann Wilson, this is the best cover of this song and the 1st time I heard Carrie sing the whole song since she sang a snippet on Idol. Amazing. I wish she would do an album in between her country albums of nothing but covers of her favorite songs. That would be an outstanding CD I would run to go buy. She can do this while she is pregnant with her 2nd child. Haha. Honestly, I hope she does because it would not be like she was deserting her country roots, but just having fun and really showing everyone what all she can do. She can even throw an original rock song too. What an awesome idea

No one on this planet should ever cover this Ann Wilson gem other than Carrie Underwood...

It was at event where both Carrie and Heart attended. And Ann Wilson was asked about Carrie's version of "Alone" and Ann said she was impressed by Carrie. And Carrie was seated near by and you could tell Carrie was embarrassed by Ann's comments. Of course, Carrie's humbleness coming through.

The guitarist smiling when she hits that scream! He knows there's only a few who can pull that off!

The duet with Ann Wilson and Heart pushed her even higher, better.

WOW.....She hits and holds those notes like no other......NO OTHER.

I like when it comes to higher parts of this song, and her band members can't grinning because of high she can go with such ease. And Jamie, gave that quirky smile, like telling the audience, no I am not going up there. She knows she can't get up there. Carrie does it with such ease and everybody else has to strain to get up there.

Carrie did the biggest teaser on American Idol, when she performed this song on Idol. The only time Carrie used her full power during Idol competition.

I've been a Heart (Ann and Nancy) fan for decades. My second date with my wife was Heart opening for Bad Company in W. Germany in 1976. I've always believed NO ONE could compete with Ann's voice on a Heart song. NO ONE (though I have to admit, I've wondered what Pat Benatar and Ann could do with each other's material). Ann has been performing 'Alone' for more than 25 years. It is a Heart staple. Don't know how many time Carrie has performed it, but it must be a drop in the bucket compared to Ann. For my money, this clip of Carrie is of someone out-Anning Ann Wilson on a Heart song! This rendition BLEW me right out of my chair. I will be looking into Carrie's albums to see if there are other gems like this. Who knew a country girl could sing like this?

Carrie has a good voice, there's no doubt about that. But she doesn't have the power Ann has to truly do this song justice.

As Carrie put it, her mind is like a sponge, when it comes to songs. Play it a couple of times and she can sing it, no problem. That is what happens when she did that songs on Idol. A couple of songs on Idol Carrie never heard them before.
