Carrie Brownstein has made iconic contributions to the worlds of music, with the indie-rock band Sleater-Kinney; and comedy, in the sketch comedy show Portlandia, which she co-created with Fred Armisen. She tells Guy about how the band found its sound, about the unlikely events that led to the birth of Portlandia, and about why she had to take a break from Sleater-Kinney to finally face some childhood traumas.

I love words and Carrie Brownstein is one of the wordiest of wordsmithers. I never travel far from a notebook and a pen and thankfully so, as Carrie's vocabulary rivals the SAT. I am in love with her for all the best reasons, and anytime I write or say -- anathama, diffident, deleterious, interlocutor, and labyrinthine -- I will fondy think of her.
I remember seeing Sleater-Kinney before they made it big, they were just as awesome
I adore her
Fascinating, thought provoking. She's so well spoken. What an enjoyable interview!
This was an amazing interview/talk. Well thought-out questions and felt super comfortable :) Congratulations!
Portlandia is one of the greatest.
Swoon 😍
Carrie, come to Welcome to the Batcave festival in Wrocław, Poland!! We need you here :D
Sleater Kinney is one of the best bands in history. Get those songs out to commercial mainstream from your latest album. Hell would be in a Lance Bangs psychological thriller and say it like you mean it will be best selling song. Commercially you have bridged the gap.
If JB Smooth gets a series put you hand up.
I remember that Hot Rock tour and I am pretty sure they played the hell out of those songs.
Aye!

Those days are gone
Hype was a big thing. Like I remember those guys from Japan putting on the leather jackets and dancing. I was like: you see that? While swing dancing was the thing. Go see hype…!
Energy thing
Carrie needs a bigger mic. 🙂

Defo - It needs to be bigger than her head.
Carrie claims to not be a singer, but I actually prefer her voice on a lot of the SK songs. Especially "Modern Girl". She has this really retro vibe among other things in her vocal style that I love.

guy, the interviewer, is not a good listener, he asked Carrie three times, why Portlandia, each time she said it started as something todo for fun, then he asks her did you start doing 5hose videos just gor fun? wow this guy is annoying and bad at his job, interviewing is mostlymlistening, not talking.
tsuch an amateur interviewer, poor time management, he is shocked at the end it is at Carrie's hard stop. dude, use a timer, keep it in the corner of your eye. use tools to be better at your little hobby here.
Is it Brownsteen or BrownSHTAAAAIN?
