    Great video as always guys and I think it’s always brilliant that someone remembers the bike in the back of the shed or garage and gets it serviced and hopefully start riding again. Anyway something to make you smile . Had a bike rattle on my giant propel advance disc 1 and I was 100 % sure it was the headset I thought I hadn’t seated something correctly as I had to replace one of the rubber covers that gives the headset that integrated look and as you know the headset on these bikes are a bit fiddly anyway pullled it all apart and put it back together and still got the rattle. I then started bouncing the bike and what it was a co2 canister in the saddle bag was banging against the seat rail😂. I should have done this in the first place but because the bag had been on it for a couple of years no problem I discounted it from the offset Doh 😖🙄. Anyway now a dab hand at giant propel headsets so I guess I got something from it 🤣😀

Ive already checked out the bike myself and actually took it for a test ride and there’s nothing unusual with it. My question is what can i do to check if there’s any cracks in the frame and fork and also is there any difference between a genuine carbon frame and a copy

    I work as a mechanic and I'm shocked the amount of work that goes into this routine service. This is equivalent to what I'd call a gold service which costs twice the amount. I've never met a carrera owner who would be willing to pay that kind of money. I respect the attention to detail here but I struggle to understand how this is in any way economical for you or your customers

    I just love these videos. A couple of questions. 1. would you recommend removing the chain and derailleur as part of normal at home cleaning my bike? 2. If so, I am sort of afraid of taking apart my derailleur. Should I be? Do I need to keep the upper and lower jockey wheels and parts separated (Shimano 105) 3. Do you recommend reusing the quick release or using a fresh one after re-installation of the chain? Thanks for all the great information. I love them all and my lunch on Wednesday involves eating a sandwich on my couch watching your new video!

    Hi Paul, it’s really up to you on how in depth you want to go, it’s not necessarily required to take everything apart obviously as a shop with all the kit the work to reward ratio is pretty fair for us. You should be fine reusing quick links though technically they should be replaced every time the chain comes off, hope that helps👍🏼

    Personally I don't take off the derailleur because then I'd have to mess with the indexing. I just take off the plate holding the jockey wheels, that's easy. And KMC make "official" reusable quick links.

    We reuse “clean” ones until they’re dirty then we class them as “greasy” ones for mechanics then they go to the bin once they’re done there⚙️

    Shimano recommend not using any acids or strong chemicals on their chains, so it'll just be degreaser and mechanical removal

    It’s so odd… I am myself a bike mechanic and we purposely take off c clips and replace them with cable ties. C clips always fall off!

  • @Bikespeeds

    @Bikespeeds

    2 жыл бұрын

    These are off road bikes if you catch the cables in under growth they will flick a clip and potentially avoid an accident or cable/hose damage. Cable ties aren’t the best in that situation. There are also different qualities of the clips. The ones I use have a good strength to themselves, they are quite hard to get on at times. I personally feel there’s no right or wrong to things like that, it’s what works for you.
