Really? Looking at his PL goals, 3 of them are pretty lucky but you can make your own luck you can argue, he didn’t create them though. One where he’s attacking the area from a pass into the 6 yard box, has a few deflections and it happen to just hit him and his goes in the net. One where a defender makes a mistake and he runs on for a 1 on 1, he gambled and it came off but not creating his own there, and another where it just bounced off his chest into the goal from a Garnacho shot.

Man this analysis by Carragher is shocking. If he’s even watched Hojlund this year then he’ll know he’s manufactured most of his goals on his own. When he was scoring in 8 straight games Carragher was nowhere to praise him at all, terrible and bias analysis.
The worry when we signed him was his general play on the ball, but in that first period when he wasn’t scoring (in the league anyway) his link up play was surprisingly good. Then he went on that goalscoring run, got injured and hasn’t looked good in either aspect since but look at what he’s working with. Definitely deserves a be the main striker again next season, just get a more experienced first reserve 👍

Hojlund is the least of the worries at that club right now.
The issue isn’t Hojlund. The issue is we have very greedy wide players who are ONLY interested in scoring themselves and when they have nothing left they then pass …. When a striker doesn’t know when the ball is going to come their way how can they anticipate anything or even make the right runs. It comes to a point where the strikers say F it why should I bother anymore and when he does get it he’s got very little chance to do anything due to his confidence being battered all game. Pointless making a run if your wide players aren’t interested in passing and moving. ETH should have made the team play around Hojlund but it seems the players up top seem to just ignore him. Hojlund only scored his own goals by creating the chances himself when he went on that short spurt of form. Even Ronaldo struggled (despite his scoring) as our wide players were just so selfish. All the wide players from the top 4 teams all play for one another. At United our players are just after the social likes/clicks
You should talk about Garnacho instead. He get's a huge amount of playing time, but game after game, all he does is cutting inside to shoot only to be blocked and giving the ball away. He almost never looks up or passes the ball. If half of his shots were crosses or a passing of the ball, things could have looked much better goal-wise.
Hjlound deserves Manchester united fans support he needs a partner upfront its like solksjaer playing striker by himself would be very difficult.

He’s played more than he should of but he’s shown more than a few glimpses, more than happy to persevere seems like a top kid aswell, only thing I’d like to see him do more is be on the shoulder of the last defender for those runs in behind and to get more tap ins
That lot went from Berbatov, Tevez, Rooney, Van Nistelroy, and Van Persie to this lad. “At this moment in time” 😂
Carragher's opinions on football are a reflection of his own carrer as a football player...
Might help if anyone passed to him, wingers only cut in,no-one crosses.
I don't think there's any problem with Hojlund's ability, put him at Spurs or Man City and he easily scores 20 League Goals this guy just never gets any service like how can you get shots without service?
He literally doesn’t get any service. He isn’t a Salah who drops deep to pick up a ball - he is a fox in the box, handful for defenders - the problem being our wingers don’t create / look for the pass. He holds the ball up well and is quite unselfish in looking to make passes to teammates. Haaland upfront for Utd wouldn’t score frequently either. It has been called the graveyard shift playing as a striker for Man Utd. The way we play doesn’t allow for prolific strikers - at the moment. Our best bet is spending on securing the defence and midfield. We need more pace, control and better passers of the ball here (quick thinkers). We have largely lethargic old school defenders better suited to deep line counter attacking play seen by lower positioned teams. Our weak spine puts pressure on other areas - wingbacks having to drop back more rather than push forward. Luke shaws crossing has been really missed this season due to injury. AWB gets a nosebleed if he is too high up the pitch and dalot whilst he has been good has played left side defence inverted for most of the season - cutting back in for crosses, killing the momentum and uncertainty that strikers thrive on in opposition defences. Shaw and on the left, dalot right with a good partner for Martinez sorts the defence. Martinez was immense for us last season and a massive loss to our identity. Mainoo is great but needs a unit of a 6 who he and the team can rely on to protect and move the ball forward. This would likely help Bruno who runs around like a headless chicken a lot trying to do all roles. Garnacho left side with a decent winger right side and rasmus might then stand half a chance.
He was scoring goals when Garnacho was playing on the right wing. When we have Garnacho on the right and Anthony on the left, who is crossing the ball to give Hojlund the assists? We need wingers that get to the byline and cross or cut the ball back for him or Bruno!
Not a MU fan but imagine how much he'd have learned had CR7 stayed at the club. Would've been the perfect deputy.
Hes raw and his game definitely needs refining but honestly from what ive seen ,give him the same chances that nunez and jackson get and hell score more goals then both of them
This is another case of non united fans appearing more concerned about a united player than the actual united fans. Happens with the manager too. 🧐

@hojlund is a good striker period. All he needs is a good midfielder with a clear vision to assist him to score goals
He’s certainly not lacking physicality and pace, those are his strong points
Cara’s partiality is mind boggling. Hojlund would do magic at Liverpool and would be more reliable especially when Jota‘s injured or unavailable. Nunez is simply too over hyped
Hasn't the lad scored 15 or 16 in all competitions this season? Considering how generally poor the team has been and the overall bad service (we're clearly set up for winger attacking on the expense of striker) and that he's young and learning, I honestly cannot say he's been anywhere near bad. Good work during the Summer, experience from 1st season, a better setup of the team and I think he could easily be in the 20-25 goals next season. As both Gary and the Scouser have said before, Hojlund is no where NEAR the most pressing problem with our team.

Carragher can never park his bias, clearly a talented player playing in a struggling team. Huge talent.
Jamie's being a bit unfair. Fowler had Rush to learn from, and Owen subsequently had Fowler as his senior. Likewise that Rooney had Van Nistelrooy there for him, and Rashford had Rooney plus Zlatan for him. This boy has both no service or a mentor, yet he's managed a decent start at the top. His output in the Champions League working with scraps should answer Carra's question about being industrious too.
Lets judge wood on its ability to burn in the absence of fire while we are at it.
To be fair to Hojlund it's not like he's missing chances. The attacking players provide nothing for him.
Danny Welbeck has been first choice striker for Top10 Brighton..... Why is he not at Man utd as a squad player coaching players like Hoilund?
Utd need Cavani ten years ago he was amazing for them
Who’s creating chances for him? I would love to see where his assists have came from this season. Antony, Rashford or Garnacho? If you watch him play, you actually see a striker putting himself in the right area. It’s exhausting watching United wingers lose possession cutting inside or taking shots from low percentage areas.
His a young lad, his stats are similar if not better than jackson and Nunez when they were 21. Is he good enough to be first choice for Man Utd, NO! but that does not mean we should criticise him to death even if he came in for a big fee, just let him do his work. The people you should criticise are the scouts and manager for putting so much pressure on him at such a young age.
The question should be are any of them good enough, some of these first team players wouldn’t have even made the bench in Utd teams gone by
Bringing in another striker would kill him? So Man Utd should only have one striker permanently? Bizarre punditry.
Need someone like a Zirkzee, Cunha, Joao Pedro that we can rotate between
There’s nothing to debate. Unless he has a supporting striker with him to hold the ball up, he isn’t going to perform and ETH isn’t going to introduce a game strategy to involve him enough
Carragher just reads what rival fans are saying on twitter and talks about it on sky as if its his own thought.
Guy gets no service at all, hes powerful, strong, fast, and makes great runs that are never seen
Carrager needs to worry about waffling Liverpool…Holjund is young and is improving despite everything around him crumbling…I’m not even a man united fan but I can see the quality in Holjund. He will score goals when he gets service. Man United needs to fix basically everything except their striking.
nunez and jackson doing something on their own😂😂 the teams they play in create a lot of chances thats why they have had more shots
The problem is that there is a scarcity of elite strikers that have proven themselves consistent in World football and are still at their best. Asie Kane n Haaland, there isnt really any other out and out striker that ticks all these boxes. That is why many top teams are using make shift wingers-cum-strikers,Secondstrikers and false9s like Mbappe,Havertz,Vini Jnr,Lautaro Martinez, Jota, Son etc
wait next season carra i want to see what will you say about liverpool....
Funnily enough, young players are the ones that haven't struggled, except Sancho maybe. It's the older established non-EPL stars that lose their shine.
So Carra thinks Holjund should take on the whole defence and create his own chances 🤔. This guy man 🤯
He’s 21. Seriously Sky, if he was at Liverpool you’d be calling him Torres 2.0
The lad gets basically zero cut backs, tap ins or crossed directly on his head. The supply line is clearly not good enough.
The kid is 21 let him be he's not ready to be running the line alone we all knew at the start of the season he need some time to get better I won't juge him before 2 more season united fan bealive in him
why cara talking about hojlund when there are players like rashford, anthony and way more who are the real problem

That's because Ronaldo wanted to take over the team. Even ole said it would have been better for both parties if they didn't sign him
The reason why hojlund isn't scoring enough is because the players are not giving him the ball and create chances and score I feel so bad for hojlund coming to United and bearly getting the ball every game
Players they really need to discuss is the likes of Rashford, Antony, Casemiro, Eriksen
If you think Hojlund is unimpressive - just imagine how hilariously bad Darwin and Jackson would be in this Utd team. Put Hojlund in Liverpool arsenal or city and he lights up
We couldn’t get Kane; i dont know why people keep talking about him like we missed out. Levy wasnt going to sell him to United. End of.
Jackson, Nunez or Hojlund ??
"He can become an Ollie Watkins one day..." Uh, should've bought Ollie Watkins then. Wouldn't have cost half of Kane
Has Carra ever watched Hojlund hes mostly power, did he not watch him in the group stage of the champions league he was the top striker in the league even though we were knocked out. How can you get chances if they're not created as a striker.
Nobody in our team gets down the wing to cross. Nobody bar Bruno can put through through balls. It's mad this is a discussion.
No United fan has an issue with Hojlund. He’s one of the players we wanna see retained through the clear out
Would love to see him at Arsenal where he would blossom he has been one of a few bright stars for United

Only way I can see that is if he plays eddies role
A striker cant always depend on service, he has to be able to create for himself.... You mean like he did for 99% of his goals? XD He scored his goals despite his teammates not because of them... To me it is clear that Højlund is unpopular amongst fans of other clubs for a reason, they want him out of United. I dont think Højlund is the problem even though he might be young and inexperienced... The issue is the way United fail to use the lad... I hope next season he will prove to everyone that he is worthy of his position and score more consistantly having my shots on goal when his teammates decide that passing to their striker is an option more than once per game.
I remember something Carra said about hojlund during his goal scoring run, I think he was wearing white and he praised him for his work ethics because his clothes were dirty. I just don't know why people forget so easily. Correct me if I'm wrong, I forgot if it was Carra or someone else.
Palmer is also 22. Much, much more potential than Hojlund. And that is where they are up against.
Rasmus is a much brighter prospect than Nunez imo
Young lad first season and his service has been awful this season it’s like the wingers forget he is there
Nunez shoots more from distance. Than it is logic that his conversion ratio is lower as Hojlund.
I swear he never gets the ball, but if he gets it with a little bit of space he will do wonders with the ball.
Carra is right united have used hojlund badly he has the ability he is light but getting better, he needs to forget about summer partys take a week off, and train like a beast
