Carpenter Mark reviews gear: What you need to know about the Milwaukee sherpa-lined vest

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I don’t like to throw tools and equipment under the bus, but the Milwaukee Sherpa-Lined Vest With 5-Pockets is a miss for me.
I want to like it-it’s super rugged. It has 5 sensible pockets (I love that I can get my iPhone in the chest pocket), the zipper is awesome and the sherpa lining is toasty. It’s simple without being stripped down.
However, and I cannot believe I am saying this, I think it is too rugged. Kind of like ballistic nylon toolbelts that never really break in, this is un-break-ia-able. The heavy duty cotton duck over the ample helping of liner is super stiff. The garment is also long-made longer by the little extra bit of fabric in the back to cover you up when you crouch over-which means I have to fold it up so I can get my tool pouch around my waist.
It’s the same thing in the truck. When I fold myself into the driver’s seat, it doesn’t fold up with me and the next thing I know, the collar is riding up by my chin. Which brings me to the collar, which both is and is not a collar. It is a collar in the sense that it is above the shoulders of the vest. But it’s only an inch tall-too small to fold down and I constantly snagging it on my ear piece or under my chin. And on a cold day, the thing can’t be zipped up under your chin.
Lastly, I’m hardly the biggest guy, but I got a small and I am swimming in this. Maybe for taller dudes who stand up more than I do, but this one is not for me.

Not excusing poor design by Milwaukee but maybe take it to a tailor and have them make changes. I've been doing that alot lately. I've never regretted spending $20-50 bucks to make my clothes perfectly fit me.

Hmmmm....I get tailoring a jacket or suit pants, but, dude...bending down in a ditch or needing to reach your tape measure or not having something jammed under your chin while you're plowing snow in a blizzard...That's not tailoring.

Vests are sort of great. Yeah, the keep the core warm and the arms free, but for me, keeping the extremities warm (hands, head, core...but with layers, not a blanket) gains the day.

@@myfixituplife Quilted flannel is my go to. Light warm and you just put your belt right on top. I wear the oxy light suspenders on my rig. For me … unmatched comfort and convenience. Closest thing to wearing a blanket! 😝
