Carole King plays herself in the Broadway musical "Beautiful"
"Beautiful: The Carole King Musical" celebrates its fifth anniversary on Broadway this week. Gayle King sits down with Carole King on the set of the hit show to discover if the legendary singer-songwriter's life is still "beautiful," and watches as the music legend, for the first time, steps onto the stage in Act 2 to play herself.

Carole King came to my rescue when I was 10 years old. I had injured myself on a field trip at Wonderland Elementary. Our street was very steep and she saw me struggling going home. She stopped and offered me a ride home and I was so happy someone was helping me. That day, she was just a mom trying to help. A moment I will never forget.

Was she well known at the time? She seems so genuine, loving and authentic.

I was in the mezzanine section when Carole King surprised us on stage this past Saturday with the final performance. Brought everyone to their feet and tears :)

neil sedaka is also like Carol talented .and should be getting all the love respect honours and awards that she has got . that fact that he hasn't is despicable and I hate it . just like her he is also a legend and should be treated as one . like she has been . from michael from Yorkshire and proud of it .
Anytime I get blue - I listen to "Jazzman".....gets my feet tapping every time! Thank you Carole King!
" My life has been a Tapestry of rich and royal hue " Yes it has Carole and we are eternally grateful for your sharing it with us.
Carole King is such a classy, lovely, smart and down to earth person.
Carol in concert is a joy. When I saw her in 2010, she projected the enthusiasm and energy of a teenager.

neil sedaka in concert is a joy . and I know that because I've seen him live in concert in Sheffield in 2006 . like Carol he's one of the greats and should be getting all the regonistion that she been given . that fact that he hasnt is extremely disrespectfull and despicable beyond words . From Michael from Yorkshire and proud of it .
'Will you still love me tomorrow' has to be my favourite song of all time.
My sweet husband took me to this show "Beautiful" for my 60th Birthday! Loved every minute of it!

My favorite Carole King song would be a song called Nightingale. What a beautiful song. I'm listening to it right now on my phone.

neil sedaka like Carol is also a legend . but unlike her he gets shabby treatment from the entertainment world . she's got way more awards than he has . and that's despicable beyond words . From Michael from Yorkshire and proud of it .
She's one of the most adorable and kind artist i ever seen in my whole life. Wish her come back create new music again.
Wow that’s profound about what she said belonging to the world
If this every comes to your town go see it!!!! It’s fantastic
Seeing Aretha singing and playing piano teared me up too......RIP ARETHA!
And these songs sound as fresh as ever. Can't see us saying that about today's music in 50 years.

Incredibly grateful for Carole King, she's transformed and immensely touched our lives forever with her creative gift she adorned and filled every arena. Saw her and JT (James Taylor) perform at The Troubadour, a magical evening filled with joy, tears and laughter! I love you Ms. King for your personal messages embedded in your songs....🎵
Just saw this musical with my spouse last night. The memories, the songs, the magic...the tears. Loved this woman since I was a young man
I saw the play Beautiful at the Hippodrome in Baltimore. So it wasn't the original Broaday actors but that didn't detract from how awesome this play was. I will forever love Carole's music as it was the soundtrack of my childhood growing up in Passaic, NJ and listening to our hometown Shirelles sing Will You Love Me Tomorrow. Thank you Carole and Gerry Goffin for all the "Beautiful" you music you wrote together.
OMG, I have loved Carole King; since I was a little girl! Going away to camp, and all we sang on the bus, was her songs! You're so far away....!💖🎹💖
My heart is full right now with the joy of Carole King's messages of love and life through her music. Indeed God gave you a gift. Love Gabriel always

I was there that night and it was truly magical. Finally got to cross seeing Carole King off my bucket list (and less than 15ft away from me, no less)!
Beautiful, indeed! This woman is unstoppable, relentless, her loving kindness is magical, truly a #Natural #Woman!! A lovely strong Queen!👸♥️💓♥️
I get chills with her music, I love it

dear vindcator Neil sedaka like her is also a living legend . he's my favourite and I resent the fact that he hasnt got anywhere near the amount of awards love respect and honours that she has been given . it's not fair or right . neil has earned his dues he should get them . From Michael from Yorkshire and proud of it .
I wish all celebrities would be so thankful to their audience.
Haven't seen this show since 2013, it will be a pleasure to see it again this summer
I love seeing and hearing all of the excitement and happiness in Carol King. Absolutely a beautiful person!
Carole King symbolizes the range of human inspiration. I love you Carole King. I love your songs, your voice and what you have meant to a brunch of people all over the world. I still have your original album. I will have that album forever😅😮😅
What a beautiful human both inside and out
Way to go. Love both MS Kings.👍👍👍👍💕💕💕💕🕊🕊🕊🕊🎉🎉🎉🎉

The memories live on! 👏🏻👏🏻❤️🎵🎶 Huge thanks to Carole King and best wishes for another great talent and Ms. King, of course!

what would warm my heart is for Neil sedaka to receive the same amount of awards love and respect and honours that she has ( quiet rightly so in my view as she is great ) recieved . it's not right that she gets just about everything when he just about gets diddly squat . From Michael from Yorkshire and proud of it .
Some of the things she say about herself would seem almost comically vain coming from any of us mere mortals. But for her, living that enormous life with one of the greatest creative gifts given to any human being, that's the only sort of thing she can say. Thanks for Carole King!
What a lovely singer.
This was a great show. My friend stage-managed it on Broadway and took us backstage after the show. It was a moment of pure fabulousness.
As a teacher I have played her children's album (that I first heard as a child) for my students called "Really Rosie" so many times; I think I play it more for me than them..LOL

Awesome interview! Saw the show when it opened and it was fantastic
I watched this musical two days ago and it is really that good. The level of the actors is so high, and also an amazing group of talented singers.! Obviously they have got a standing ovational at the end.

neil sedaka deserves the honuor of a broadway and West end musical about him . just like Carol has been given to her . that he has not been given this honour smacks of great disrespect to him in my view . From Michael from Yorkshire and proud of it .
The past came alive the songs meant so much to a lot of people when they came on. People remember where they were and what they were doing she's a time capsule such beautiful beautiful music 👍👍👍
Excellent!! Love her
I appreciate that Carole King seems open, receptive, grounded, unpretentious, accessible. That means something. And I think it speaks to a triumph through life. I wish she would accept mail from the public. Due to COVID I don't think she is. Sorry if my name icon comes up 2x. Some sort of stupid computer glitch we don't know how to fix.
LOVE her!
I've seen Beautiful before at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis it's a beautiful show.
such a great show
Carol King's hair is gorgeous!
Fantastic! Thanks!
One of the best singers of my lifetime!
I would love to meet her someday. I feel a connection to her because her mother and my mother were friends. I met her mom, Genie, but I never met her.
Love her songs so many childhood memories I would play all the time❤
I saw that show with Mom, Dad and our neighbors, years ago! It was great! 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

Epic! 🏆
Love love love Carol King 🙏🏻
I like her Music too!
She was an absolute musical icon. She and Jerry wrote some of the greatest contemporary songs prior to the Beatles era and she wrote and performed many following it. But her eternal classic is the Shirelles'. WILL YOU STILL LOVE ME TOMORROW.
