Every time my opening gets crushed with some new variation I come back here and you always provide thorough summaries and good references for where to get more information. I've had university teachers put less effort into their lessons. It's like finding a good math teacher who helps make the struggle easier. It means a lot.

just a side note: for those who like me plays 3. ... c5 in response to advance variation it would be helpful to look at GM Igor Khenkin games. He scored very good in this variation. Someday maybe I will learn the main line with Bf5 but it seems to me to be very theoretical heavy.

A great great great video! Not only a list of moves and variations but full of explanations of plans, ideas and reasons WHY one side play this move. Keep on doing like this. On chess24 I have looked into a video series of the Caro-Kann that is much more detailed but it just is a list of moves and possible moves and I never will remember this. But by your video I have understood the problems and advantages of the variations and these I can remember in my matches. So I am able to maybe find my own way continuing the match even if I have forgotten the right continuation... Great Job!

One thing that I would like to mention is that tough it is very good to exchange the light squared bichop on move four, black looses a king defender, so it's important to place a knight close to him and perhaps a bichop on f8 so we won't get mated.

Against 4. Nd2 you can just play dxe4 and Nf6 and play like the Tartakower Caro Kann

Great content. Thank you for sharing. I'm new to playing the caro and have learned a ton. One question -- what are the "general" plans for castling in the advance caro? Seems this is delayed in many lines? Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks again.

What i play in that horrible line for white( 17:17 ) is Qa5+ and after that Qa4. If the queens are exchanged mating attacks aren't gonna happen and develops my knight. If they aren't exchanged then it's hard to castle kingside for white.

how do you only have 3.3k subs? you have so much really good in depth content and its organized nicely in playlists. I don't get it. The only thing I can note is your accent is pretty thick and normally people don't like to listen to a thick accent for so long. But that doesn't explain only 3.3k on such a good channel.

when i was playing the Bf5 line in blitz games, a lot of people were playing g4 against me, i now play c5 instead, because a lot of players arent familiar with it

I used to do that when I was playing e4 as white XD. I played the Caro Kann also (but with 3. ... c5) and I really liked idea of using the bishop as a tempo gainer for expanding on the king side and most likely attacking that side. It always caused the opponents to resign early. But the 3. ... c5 variation also has lines against it (which is why nearly everyone recommends bf5 instead) but I have not faced a single opponent who knows the slightest amount of theory about it.
