Carnival's Faster To The Fun: Is it worth the cost? We break down the program and tally the results!

Ойын-сауық

Carnival Cruise Line sells a priority benefits package called Faster To The Fun (FTTF). The idea behind the concept is to provide cruisers quicker access to the fun (hence the name) - but it doesn't come cheap. We regularly get asked if we think Carnival's Faster To The Fun is worth it, and so we break down the benefits and provide a value to each.
Some of the benefits include Priority Check-In, Priority Boarding, Early Stateroom Access, Priority Guest Services, Priority Water Shuttle Service, and Priority Debarkation.
We assign a value to each of the benefits and tally it up at the end to answer the question once and for all, "Is Faster To The Fun worth it?"
We also talk about who SHOULDN'T purchase Faster To The Fun.
So, let' jump in and learn more about Carnival's FTTF program and whether or not it's worth it for your next cruise!

    Im currently a Platinum card holder but in the past ive purchased faster to the fun for 2 reasons, #1 i have stood in line for long time waiting to board but with FTTF i flew through the boarding process everytime. #2. Guest services, ive been on both sides and on larger ships ive seen the line of 50 people deep which will take forever to get helped, but with FTTF only couple people and was in and out lickity split. Okay 3rd item, never realized how nice it was to drop my backpack off at room right away, much easier to get food. Before i became Platinum i would always get FTTF and never thought twice about it. I really dislike waiting in long lines for lengthy periods of time.

    Never heard of FTTF til today while I was looking for In room food and drinks packages on Carnivals website ( havn't cruise on Carnival since 2009). What a coincidence you had a video posted as of yesterday. Unfortunatly for my next cruise FTTF is all sold out. Wish I knew about this sooner. My husband has a bad neurologic disorder, so this FTTF would have helped out a lot to board and avoid the long lines. Thanks for the video and info.

    I guess cruising styles vary, but FTTF was not a value for me because... 1) Soon as the cruise opens up for online check-in, get one of the earlier times (usually 10am). I'm getting on at the same time, if not maybe 30 minutes behind priority. 2) I don't need room access right away, I travel light with a small backpack and one suitcase that I hand over to the porters. 3) Once the porter takes your luggage, it goes into the pile. I've gotten my luggage delivered before my friend and she was Platinum. 4) Guest Services is open 24 hours. If I have a problem, I go at non-peak times. No lines. 5) I make my dining reservations pre-cruise during online check-in. 6) If you have an excursion, you automatically get off first. If I don't have an excursion, I wait about an hour, enjoy my breakfast and get straight on the tender boat. Coming back from a tender port is a cattle call, FTTF doesn't apply. 7) I wait for last call and walk right off the ship. If you drive to the port, I guess you want to get off first. With flights, you risk missing the flight for anything before 11:00. You don't know how long the ship will clear customs, traffic conditions, and how long the TSA line will be once you get to the airport. my 2 cents 😀

    Absolutely! This program is definitely not for every cruiser out there! Just be aware that you'll want to check the service times on your cruise for Guest Services as they are longer open 24-hours per day. 😉

    I think you are right on is it worth the cost. I also think it depends on the port if it's really necessary. For example, I don't think it's worth it for Long Beach but it might be worth it in Port Canaveral or Miami.

    So if I have an ocean suite, I can get on before FTTF? 😮 Can I drop off luggage even when my room isn’t ready with a suite cabin too? Do Ocean Suite guests get priority guest service lines too? -- nevermind on that one, you answered this later. 😊

  • @thiscruiselife

    @thiscruiselife

    3 ай бұрын

    The answers to your questions are Yes and Yes! Suites will board the ship after Diamond and Platinum, respectively, followed by Suite guests. But you'll want to make sure that you select an early boarding time when checking in for the cruise to ensure you can enjoy the benefit. As for the luggage drop, if you carry items onto the ship that you didn't drop with the porters, you will have the ability to drop them at your cabin upon boarding the ship, just don't linger around the cabin until they're announced as being ready. 🙂

  • @thiscruiselife

    Yes, you do need to still select a boarding time. According to the official rules, you must still arrive during that window - however, we’ve personally seen FTTF admitted regardless of check in time. Hope that helps!

  • @thiscruiselife

    FTTF is released anywhere between 6 and 18 months before the cruise. This is based on the number of Platinum and Diamond currently booked. We always recommend joining the Facebook group for your specific cruise as often times it will be announced within the group when FTTF goes up for sale.

    I think before C it was worth it. Since then I don't think it is. I've been gold since cruising resumed(turn platinum on teh Firenze inagural). I have had no issues with boarding and have been some of the first groups of cruisers to board. I've also had my luggage at the room (or within 30 min) at the 1:30 access time. I purchased FFTF several times before C and never after(although it wasn't available most of the cruises i've been on)

    First and foremost, happy Platinum Cruise!!! We look forward to celebrating you in the Platinum/Diamond party on the Firenze! The only downside to turning Platinum on an inaugural is that you won't get to experience all of the benefits since there will be so many of us Platinums and Diamonds on board. Thank you for sharing your experience with using FTTF. Things have definitely changed in the cruise industry since the restart. It's very hit or miss on when our luggage gets delivered to our cabin.

    FTTF was a lot more valuable before they started assigning check in times. I remember back when you could show up at 10:00 on boarding day and find that there were already hundreds if not thousands of people already waiting. With FTTF, you could bypass most of them. Now, with the crowd spread out over multiple assigned check in times, it’s not nearly as valuable to have it…

    I don’t think that’s very fair to the diamond and Plattin that really worked hard for their status and they take away things from diamond and Plattin. Why don’t you raise the price on fast for fun?

  • @thiscruiselife

    @thiscruiselife

    2 ай бұрын

    On sailings expected to have a lot of Platinum and Diamond guests, Carnival doesn’t offer Faster To The Fun. To your point, it wouldn’t be fair to reduce benefits for those that worked hard to achieve them only to sell the benefits to new cruisers. FTTF shouldn’t have an impact on loyal cruisers - with the exception of maybe adding a couple extra minutes in front of you at Guest Services! 😉 Carnival did just raise the price late last year and we believe there’s likely room to increase the price more as we’ve seen with everything from speciality dining to wifi. We will keep an eye out! -Mark
