    This game has some great moments. Recently, I played as the vampires and during a game I tried to jump from one building to another, fell, then killed anyone who saw it happen.

    Really glad to see you covering this game! Coming from Frostgrave, it seemed complicated- but then I played it using the free resources on the website, and two starter gang boxes. It worked. Rules (mostly) made sense, and we had a blast. Hope you enjoy it too!

    A very well made video, everything well presented and explained. I have been playing Carnevale since it hit the shelves, so I might be a veteran of the game. What I really like is the clever use of real history that provides the background. Playing Carnevale is always fun and as someone who is totally into terrain that is the perfect game. All the elements make sense and the rules really cater for fast paced games and 3D kind of works here. I also like the support, as you can download everything from the TTC homepage. For me it might be one of the more underrated skirmishes out there.

    I was lucky enough to be given a copy of the rule book and I then bought the Doctors starter box, painted them up and... havent played the game :( it does look like loads of fun though.

    I only learned recently that Carnevale has a mod for Tabletop simulator! Could be a great way to try the game and see if it's worth persuading others?

    Great, fun and quick game. I also only got into it recently although I have been aware of it for years. The rules are easy to pick up (I've given up trying to play Infinity). If you are at UKGE this weekend I would also recommend checking out Moonstone for an amazing, small skirmish game with superb miniatures.

    Sad to hear you've given up on Infinity, Tony! We have a nice little play group in the Discord who'd be more than happy to help you with it. Moonstone is one I'm aware of and really like! I actually bought the starter set at one point but ended up giving it to a friend because I hadn't found time to give it a go.

    It's mechanically very different to basically every other game, so I definitely get why it can feel very abstract till you're in it. Tabletop Simulator is such a great learning tool, for games like Infinity.

    @@tonysilvey Definitely a good idea to try to play through the Infinity starter missions with someone, as they gradually introduce more rules as you go. It's definitely a hefty game, and the rules can be a bit poorly explained, but the online Infinity wiki is always there to help out! And Fast Panda gaming do some well-paced battle reports for it.

    @@TesseractMinis Yes please! I just can't understand why TTCombat don't do batrep videos for their games. There's no-one else doing it, and so they don't get the exposure of other games like Malifaux and Infinity. If you go looking for inspiration, how-to-plays and some sweet terrain setups, you only find a couple of videos from years ago, and it doesn't inspire confidence, sadly. So yeah! Please batrep it!!

  • @TesseractMinis

    @TesseractMinis

    2 жыл бұрын

    I can only guess that it's because of time. If you completely exclude painting the minis, terrain and other elements, a batrep takes probably a week for one person to produce. They're a little company so I honestly can't blame them for not having a week spare. The good news is that channels like this one exist! ...although now I've said all that I'm definitely worried about the time commitment too 😂

  • @andrewbeeching1240

    @@TesseractMinis wow - didn't realise it can take a week to produce a batrep. Yikes! But TTCombat aren't the only ones - I would actually be hard pressed to think of a company (big or small) that DOES do regular batreps for their games (not Corvus Belli, Wyrd, GW etc), so I think there's more to it. I suspect they don't value their impact in the bigger scheme of things, which may be fair. I just know I really love watching them!

  • @TesseractMinis

    @TesseractMinis

    I think one of the things to bear in mind is that a Batrep doesn't _mean_ as much if it comes direct from the company. People watch Batreps and draw conclusions about power levels, matchups, good and bad units etc. That information feels much more genuine when it comes from the community and as such I think people value Batreps more when it's the gamers making them. Thankfully we have channels like Ash at Geurilla Miniature Games, and hopefully, eventually, myself - who are willing and able to give as many games a spotlight as they possibly can. I like to think there's value in that, for the community.

    TTCombat adopted both the Dropzone/Dropfleet IP and the Carnivale IP from other companies that were going under, so it'd be difficult to say that they are solely responsible for these games. I don't know how much they changed or refined the rules for them either - I only briefly played DZC before it was adopted, and never have (yet) played Carnevale.
