Damn who would of thought the only champion in the melo trade would be mozgov at the time and that the nuggets would get jamal murray from that deal....the nuggets stole that trade in hindsight

10 years later and this is still one of the DUMBEST trades I’ve seen in recent history Carmelo’s contract was set to expire THAT OFFSEASON and everyone INCLUDING New York was trying to convince melo to just let his contract expire and wait until free agency so that he could sign there and they wouldn’t have had to give up anything but instead he forced his way there and the Knicks had to essentially trade their entire starting 5 plus 3 draft picks for a player who had an expiring contract and then spent more money to give him an extension when they could’ve spent less had he waited like everyone told him to then once he got to New York Carmelo was somehow surprised and complained that he didn’t have enough support around him to build a contending playoff team and compete for a championship but failed to realize all of his support got traded so he could be a Knick

You seem to forget Nets was in the hunt for Carmelo. Which means Carmelo couldve signed at Nets at Free Agency.

yup... they was ballin b4 Melo.

This trade was such a huge set back for the Knicks. Felton & A'mare were sooo good together. Danilo is turning into an all-star and Chandler is a solid player. The Knicks should've kept their team and tried finding a solid SG. The Nuggets are a much better team today than NYK. The Knicks gave up all their depth basically for Melo and now they can barely stay in games.

I read somewhere that the Nuggets were more interested in Fields than in Chandler. Unfortunately, Chandler's game against the Nuggets showed the front office otherwise and thus, he was traded away. Imagine if the Knicks had been able to keep Chandler, a capable scorer and defender. With Tyson Chandler, Kidd, Camby, Wallace, Shumpert and Martin..... The Knicks would be scary defensively. (Plus he's another shooter that can space the floor )

Can you imagine starting lineup of CP3-Shumpert-Wilson Chandler-Melo-Tyson Chandler... i think they could really challenge and possibly beat the Heat.

+Jason Young A trade back in 2011 and we are still paying of it with Den having the rights to swap picks this year and we don't even have it bc Dolan and Mills gave it off for Barns. That was even better trade then the Melo one...ha ha ha kill me.
