@@Hillgrov considering there have only really been 6 decades of pop music, with more and more being released the more recent the decade, i’d say being the most influential of the most recent full decade would make it one of the greatest of all time. i suppose it depends what u class as pop, as it can’t match the quality or influence of something like hounds of love, but in art pop there’s more creative freedom. the heights carly was able to achieve while staying within the norms of mainstream pop is incredible, and it is definitely one of the best mainstream pop albums of all time for that reason

Lukevin99 the reason the show did so poorly in canada is because the judges were a joke. They were horrible to watch without any constructive criticism. Simon on the american version could be mean yet back up something with a valid point these judges had nothing to offer.

aidan morris The Canadian Idol season was actually pretty good. The season with Theresa Sokyrka was even better. But yeah, they guy with his shoes on the table was arrogant and impolite and then proceeded to insult her, but in the end gladly voter her in. Meanwhile Carly Rae is more successful than all four judges combined.

I remember this season of Canadian Idol and how much I liked Carly. She had/has a unique sound and look which is appealing and what promoters look for in an recording artist but I don't know who was selecting her songs during that season. With the exception of "At Seventeen" thought most of them were awful. They weren't suitable for her vocal range. Just saying. So glad her voice has matured and she sounds so much better now. Thank you Justin Bieber for noticing.

I love her voice tho... See there are certain people I love, who can't necessarily sing the greatest. But sometimes they just have that raw talent which is appealing. My two favroties are Taylor Swift and Carly Rae.. Taylor's voice I've always loved. And I have very high standards because I'm very much into Whitney Huston, Celine Dion, Judy Garland etc. But Taylor's voice along with her song writing is just spot on. and it works. Carly's new album Emotion is friggin amazing! And her voice Really shines through. She's not very good at singing covers. But when she sings her own songs it really is just perfect enough. And they both have that star power. Which is very important.

And then she becomes one of only a dozen Diamond-selling artists in the world.
