The problem was Carlos Mencia was accused of doing other comedian's routine right before they went on stage. This is not the same as just stealing someone's joke. This is another level of disrespect.

If you just starting, I think there’s a little forgiveness in the comedy circle, since you have idols and such. He took Paul mooney stuff and Ari Shaffir too, well into his career though. Other comedians might have been doing it, but he did it to the extreme and didn’t have discussions with comedians when he did it, doing hour sets, and doing walk-in’s pushing out other comedians time slots, and used his mind of Mencia show as leverage, because no comedian is going to expose him because of business reasons. Joe Rogan did because he didn’t care. He probably knew other comedians did it, but he just didn’t like Carlos personally and stealing jokes gave him more reason to expose him and because he had comedian friends who were stolen from, and he felt braver. Joe Rogan was more ballsy and edgier back then, kinda macho. He’s chilled out now because he’s older and he smokes weed and such, even Bryan callen said this on a podcast. Carlos mencia did this to himself, i’m sure the comedians back then, gave him chances, but he just kept burning them. What happen with carlos was gonna happen eventually, Joe Rogan just speed it up.

After a certain point and hearing Bobby confirm it, there was no going back for me. Bobby wouldn't lie about that. He even said he struggled for years with feeling like he was disloyal for telling the truth because Carlos really did help his comedy career and life. But he couldn't not admit it and let comedy itself get destroyed by thieves. Carlos would have been way better off admitting it back then. And? Bill Cosby has stolen jokes from others as well. Almost any of the top comedians old or new steal jokes. Even George Carlin stole a joke from The abbot and Costello show from 1952. Richard Prior stole an absolute shit ton of jokes. Robin Williams stole probably the most out of anyone. I guarantee that if you had all the footage from all comedians in the past 100 years, that every single well known comedian in the past 50 years has stolen jokes, and more than just one or 2.

Got to say I believe him... He sounds sincere to me... I don't know how many times I've heard different comedians say the same OJ Simpson Johnny Cochran jokes... Sometimes when strong topics becomes available a lot of comedians could think of the same thing or say variations that might sound like other comedians material

At that point, mencia who was in the audience and heard that from joe, goes up on stage and challenges joe to tell him which joke of his menicia had stolen, and at that point redban comes in and video records the whole thing, and redban & rogan release the footage to the public. @@deydance mencia was on the line up that night following rogan and kirk when mencia went on stage he starting addressing it and thats when rogan went on stage from the back of the room where all the comics were sitting. Rogan had just pointed out that no comics were going to do their best material because carlos was in the back of the club
