It seems Houston's offer to keep him was more than fiar at $160M for five years and so was Twins $105M for three years. But for some reason Correa keeps rejecting such offers. I guess he assumed clubs would not ever do proper physicals on him.

Isn't everyone missing the fact that his agent is a ruthless prick? he knows the man is more likely injured, probably knew it happened with the Twins, and must have still pushed him to opt out of his contract to get himself a bigger commission. As a Giants fan, many of us have had it with Farhan. The way he handled this situation was still unacceptable. Notice the Mets don't announce a press conference date until after the physical. They didn't wait until Correa and his family were in town, 3 hpurs before the press conference. Seems like it was to put pressure on the player and make him look bad. Also I don't think Kapler being so vocal about his political beliefs helps the team win or attract free agents.

So from what I can tell, he fractured his fibula and had a plate put in, and then later on probably sprained that ankle. He could have had some bad ligament damage which could potentially end his career. Even so, anybody who has ever had a sprained ankle knows that it's easier to sprain it again. However if something went wrong with the plate such as it shifted, he may have to have surgery and miss most of next season if not all of it. So any team that signs him on must take it as a contingency that it is a strong possibility to any contract they agree to finalize. In other words whichever team signs him to a contract may not have his services available during one of his prime years. Instead they could be paying him during one of the years that he starts to decline. Is it any wonder why teams would be reluctant to sign him on to a long-term deal?
