Determined to pave his own path in modern music - Wockner uses multi-instrumentalism and dynamic production to take listeners on a journey through multiple genres and sonic excitement, all while telling a story.
“Recent singles of 2020 END OF ME, PAINT THE AIR, STEREO, CMB have been a collaboration with pop producer Ben Flanders. We added specific ingredients of Pop production with REAL acoustic guitar, hits, taps - vocal trills and voicing. These were all incorporated INTO the beat to give a nice earthy presence, and we even added Kazoo (on Better) just because.. I really feel like we just straight up need more kazoo in our lives!”
Carl Wockner was named the first and ONLY Australian artist to ever win Top Honors at the International Acoustic Music Award’s 2015 (USA), along with top of the AAA category for the release of his album Crayon Days with producer Michael Flanders in Nashville TN. Wockner has skipped up the charts with his first two single releases receiving high rotation to national radio in both Australia and USA which landed the title track into the International Billboard Charts. The same album has received a 2016 IMA (Independent Music Awards) Finalist nomination for Best Adult Contemporary Album. It was following this recent success that Wockner relocated his family to Nashville TN, USA as a strategic move for his evolving career.
Sept 2019, Carl was featured for an entire episode of “Backstage Marquee” a syndicate show aired across the USA featuring original artists set to be ‘the next big thing.’
Sept 2018 Wockner performed LIVE on National USA Television. The show HLN on the CNN Network for the segment “The Weekend Express,” featured Carl’s original songwriting and performance as a showcase taste of Nashville / Music City.
His rare “Live Looping” style solo performance matched only with his signature vocals and unique acoustic guitar work renders Carl in a league of his own. The live shows have been recognized throughout Australia and USA with multiple headliner performances at festivals and touring, and Wockner is now rumoured as one of the busiest musicians in Nashville, TN - aka “Music City.”
Since landing in Nashville, Wockner has released two EP’s including a Christmas release with the favoured “Santa Selfie.” Currently his latest single “Better” is noted as the best studio representation of his signature live performance style.
There’s something about Carl Wockner’s music that simply exudes peace. The peace you feel when you’re humming along to a nostalgic track, or the peace you feel when you just know everything’s going to be ok. However you connect with Carl’s music, you would agree this he is definitely onto something.
Carl’s first EP, the self-produced, recorded, mixed (all in his lounge room) Acoustic…ness, was released in 2011 to an overwhelmingly positive response. Single “Pictures” received airplay on Hot 91 FM and ZINC FM, the latter of whose DJ’s referred to him as “the man with the big hair and Golden Tonsils.” Carl was also named a finalist in three categories at the 2012 and 2013 MusicOZ awards: Acoustic Singer/Songwriter, Blues and Roots, and Pop.

How are you not one of the super famous! I would much rather listen and watch to your talent and vibe than watch the majority of famous musicians that are on the radio TV exctra. This would dosent make cense to me.

Yessir! It’s super handy - I don’t use it in every song but essentially I just have that extra track to add another dynamic element.. like loop boost! Haha

Well done, Carl! So creative. I appreciate your pedal board, the loops, and the volume pedal on that one beat to leave some space. A lot of thought went into all this. Nice Maton...does it stay in tune pretty good? I tried the Yamaha JR1, but the B string was a menace...could not cure the sharp major 3rd vs flat 5th issue of physics. And I see the Egnater ready to light up.

Question - your mic is so good.. when you step away you can still hear it and the voice doesn’t fall off dramatically. What mic is it and is it going direct to the HeadRush Looperboard or is it separate as you have 2 mics? I’m guessing not.

Yes mate my main vocal is separate as I always recommend. It’s a Shure KSM8 into a Universal Audio LA610mkii into an Apollo into pro tools. Love this chain!

This is waaayyy too good! Brilliant stuff! I have a question. Has the Headrush fixed the issue with the loop once you stop it, can you immediately start recording from the same spot on another channel or do you still have the wait out the full loop?

Awesome as ever bro - looping genius! Quick question, have you always used the expression pedal? I feel like it’s a really handy tool to have and I’m tempted for one myself but I’m not sure how I’d go about routing it out of an RC30, or which one to get! Any advice greatly appreciated as ever mate! 🙌🏽 Keep fighting the good fight!

Hey mate, yes Ive always had one - and actually got used to using it in the RC300 setup. For the RC30 you would just use it after the RC30. So out of RC30 into an Expression pedal (if you're going Stereo you will need a stereo Exp Pedal). But also if you're just using it for volume Like I am, you would only need a "Volume" pedal. Which are a little cheaper and there are plenty of options. good luck mate

Another amazing live loop Carl! Just love the layering and I just love looping in general. How are you finding the new looper these days? Better looper than the RC-300? Sound quality much better out of it? Anyways keep it up man the music is sounding great 🤙🏼

Thanks mate! Absolutely loving it! I do still love the RC300 tho - but this thing sounds better (takes a bigger rig to hear the difference) and the 4 tracks are handy. Definitely a larger setup and a little more complicated but worth it for me for sure.

@@carlwockner oh I can see the setup now compared to before and definitely looks complicated haha. My RC300 set up isn’t half as complex but I’m trying. Just getting it rigged up to my MacBook for some recording lately and working out the kinks. Need to put more time into it haha.

Been following for a while. This is one of your best productions (aside from the focus problems on the right camera). The audio is spot on. The composition(ship) is lacking, but your performance and authenticity more than make up for it. Bass is requiring me to turn up my wolfer to make you sound better.
