I’ve been referring to psychological difficulties as a incongruence of behaviour/beliefs that were either learnt or needed for the individual at different times. Which were defences of the self from past environments or relationships that are incongruent with a new environments. What do you think of my interpretation. This is where I explore patterns of relating, locus of evaluation and conditions of worth as they are shared for the new awareness of the individual to explore, to develop a more organismic valuing process would this be in line with PCT.

Thanks for the comment. Yes, I could see how one could make a connection between old behaviours and how they may no longer be congruent/serve in the present. As with all these things, it can be so individual and nuanced so would depend on the specifics of the behaviour, where it is coming from in the person, their process etc. but I think it’s fair to say that it is one possible evaluation of behaviour. Hope that helps 😊

@@ChrisTheCounsellorChris, I love to learn to expand my knowledge, I like to discuss these topics with people, but how can I find someone knowledgeable on the subject who will take the time to learn my nuances to coach / mentor me, without having to pay extortionate hourly fees? The more I learn demonstrates how much there is that I don't know, and that delights me, scares me, and challenges me to understand why it is that I care at all.

Yes, it can be tricky but whilst I was training I found discussing topics with peers and others helpful to clarify my understanding. As well as a lot of reading!
