Weber's opera "Der Freischütz" alone is the symbol of German romanticism. Weber's dramatic genius lies in the interaction between man and nature, but also in the way man feels about nature.

This was a famous issue for its scene painting and authentic atmosphere. As usual Keilberth provides smoothly even and indefatigable Germanic working but at a lower voltage than some later figures of more manic disposition to make listening surprisingly both easier and often more sensible. However the 1821 work’s individuality is undermined and is placed back closer to Beethoven’s and Haydn’s unambitious and more anonymous stage efforts, and Lortzing’s charm and onto the J.Strauss operettas, rather than its real nature as the bridge forward to Wagner’s killer drive and quality invention.

The complete recording lasts 2 hours and 14 minutes, not 1 hour and 54 minutes, i.e. 20 minutes more. You cut the spoken dialogues (which is not fair at all). And you deleted my comment yesterday. This is not fair at all either. Merry Christmas! Listen to the complete recording on Google (KZread, Spotify, etc.)!
