Caring For My Bottle Baby Lambs
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
Meet our adorable bottle baby lambs! We nearly got through our whole lambing season this year without having to hand raise any lambs, but at the very end we wound up with two of them. These little guys were born super tiny and their mom's just didn't want to take care of them. Even though it takes a lot of time and effort to raise bottle lambs, we have plenty of goat's milk to feed them with, plus they are super cute and cuddly.

@@YouCanFarm exactly! I just want a few dairy ones mostly as pets so it won't be that crazy haha. Have you been able to house train them? It would be so funny to have them ask to go potty

Do you keep those ewes that aren't good mothers? Are they more likely to do the same the second time?

I'm sure they already have names, but the white one needs to be renamed Hop

The Black on is Flashy and the White on is Finn. Hop would be a good name but that will have to wait for 2 years. Thanks for watching!
Once again nice video thanks Mam

Sweet boys. I wonder how people get away breeding their ewe lambs at 80 lbs to lamb their first year. Seems like they would get a lot of bum lambs. Love seeing the flock. Thanks for sharing. Hey one question, what varieties of grass are you grazing during the summer? My sheep will not touch Bahia or Bermuda.

That's interesting, because we have one field that is mostly Bermuda, and one that is mostly Bahia, and my sheep eat both really well. There is some Johnson grass, clover and fescue mixed in both fields, but it's a small fraction. We also have areas (like around the houses) with crabgrass and St. Augustine grass that they go nuts for. We have not done any intentional seeding of warm season grasses, just letting what's in the seed bank pop up, and spreading some hay. I think in the future I will seed some alfalfa, more clovers and sudan grass.

@@YouCanFarm it drives me crazy. They completely ignore it, but yes they do love the volunteer crabgrass. That’s neat about the st Augustine, I never thought they would eat something like that, thought it was strictly a turf type grass. But you’re the second person that has mentioned grazing it. I even have gamagrass that’s come up and they ignore that while it’s supposed to be really desirable. So confused.

I’m looking to buy a Catahoula for hunting squirrels and birds and possibly deer. Do you recommend any certain breeder That has papers and does health checks on the puppy

I recommend Flint Hills Catahoulas in Oklahoma. You can also call the NALC breed registry office and they can refer you to a certified breeder in your area.
