hey bud the button nose on that kohaku is something that a lot of koi breeders actually look for as they always tend to get bought. it's not a disqualifier by any means. adds character. cheers

Good to see the fry are coming along well. Just wondering, what do you do with all of the ones you decide that you don't want, do you just advertise them for sale to the public or sell them to aquatic fish stores ? An idea for some videos I would love to see would be to show examples of the different varieties, and explain what makes them be the variety that they are.......also pointing out the quality that is looked for, to explain to a novice like me. I've learned a few but I would find that really interesting.. Thanks for the update buddy.

Showa looks more suni or black during this age until 3-6 months and very hard to identify a good pattern early on that's why most Japanese breeders select showa red pattern early this stage. You can only tell if it's a showa or sanki just by the eyes only, most showa has a black/darker eyes and sanki are usually has lighter ones. It's just my opinion as a koi breeder for 12 years now. So might be true to me and wrong to others. ❤

Yes definitely I’m more focused on the hi plate more than anything else at this age as even on my tosai the black is still changing 👍

@@UkKoiFish Yes, good body and hi pattern for now. I saw a lot of potentials in there. In a few more weeks you might separate the bigger ones. So it will maximize their growth on both smaller and bigger ones. Some smaller koi might not be able to compete for food anymore in a few weeks from now. Great video btw. 👍
