Thank you for the info. I agree with the butternut, it does make a very nice coffee scoop. But, for me anyways, I had trouble with making claws on a bear as it appears to be brittle when trying to carve small features.

Thanks for watching and commenting! Yes, things like claws can be a challenge, even on basswood it can be hard to get the result you want.

You should check out ocooch hardwoods, they have 2x2x12 basswood in their turning blanks section for 2.50 each, I don't know what Moore woods charges for shipping but for me 20 pieces from ocooch (shipping is zip code based) it would cost just over a dollar each for shipping for 60 pieces the cost is cut in half, a ridiculous amount for most hobbyists but maybe good for a professional like you.

Thanks for the tip! And it looks like they have a wide selection of hardwoods to choose from. I do pen turning as well and love the exotic hardwoods.
