Cargo Trailer Conversion: Electrical Wiring

In this episode we wire the trailer for electrical, put the walls back up, and attempt to replace the trim boards. The next step will be to finish the ceiling and begin the process of painting the interior.

Those are nail screws, they are used with a nail gun. They look like u can unscrew them but not, they suck. Just bought a 7 x 14 trailer. Which i ordered 2 windows and installation for the sides and ceiling. And i told them to put regular screws not those nail screws. Now the fun starts building my cargo trailer. Best of luck on your build.

@@kevinc5801 the easiest way to remove those screw nails, is drill the head off and then pull them out or cut them off. Hope this helps.

I like what I see, my wife loves the pallet look, but you need to show what’s inside, I am assuming it’s the shower and toilet? Please show more if you can, thank you.

Hey Joseph- If you're still thinking about doing a conversion of your own, I encourage you to check out the video I just uploaded about my experience and advice for conversions. I hope it's helpful to you, and good luck with your build!

Awesome video ! I just picked up my cargo trailer and plan on converting it but really have no idea what I’m doing. I’ve been watching a ton of KZread videos and seems like all of them installed electric before and behind the insulation. Any reason or issues with doing it the way you did with the electric on the outside of the insulation ?

The main reason I chose to do it this way is because I wanted it be easier to access in the future. Just in-case I wanted to change something down the road. Either way is fine, but if you ever do change your mind about your layout- Insulation is just one more thing you would have to pull out to make alterations. I hope that's helpful!

When I made my purchase last week, the dealer said "Make sure you mark your pieces!" What screws did you use to replace the originals that you had to crowbar out? Great vids with a sense of humor👍

Those are screws for a collated screw gun. The screws get "shot" into the walls. Not really made to be removed. Diamond cargo and Lark use them.

Noob here: why cant you just run electrical extension cords to be plugged in at the camp site?

  • @jacobwanninger9147

Hey CCW Noob! Glad you gave this video a look and that’s great question. So we installed a 30amp outlet on the outside of the trailer that goes to our breaker panel inside. So whenever we get to the campsite we run a 30amp extension cord from the camp site’s supply to our outlet. We can also use a generator in the same way.

Another option is to wire the entire trailer on 12V off a solar generator / battery pack then run the campsite 110V to the setup when available, or solar when off grid. There are pros & cons to having mix of 12V an d normal household style wiring (one / other / or both), but if you plan on building solar into your rig and want to keep things simple, it's an option.
