This first video in the series will take you through an inside and out overview of our cargo trailer camper conversion. We'll talk about all the features we packed into this 6x12 cargo trailer and walk through some upgrades we added right from the manufacturer to get the build out started. All in, this trailer cost less than 15K to complete and it's fully loaded! Videos to follow will include details of our build and tips for anyone who is considering building out a trailer. Enjoy!

Great job. Love this build. I am doing mine similar to yours. I have watched a lot of conversion videos and you have the most complete conversion I have seen. I love the materials that you used. Great job.

love, love, love. The color and materials used in the interior design is right up my alley and the bed configuration with the lifted queen and futon is exactly what i was thinking for us.

Nice compact build. I like your sleeping arrangement for the whole family. Once concern I have is how to get out in an emergency if the door is not an option. I didn't see any emergency egress windows or other ways out. Thanks for sharing your build.

Curios on where you ended putting your spare? I was just thinking of mounting outside or underneath if space permitted.

Hi. Cool build. Is the solar enough to move the mini split if needed and if it does for how long let's say at night. Thats for any info.

Beautiful! I'd love to do something similar. Do you have a list of your materials used or more of a detailed how to?

I like the gas strut idea for bed - I'm putting a bed in that adjusts on vertical e track. Nice job and all but to me how the windows get blocked when bed is lowered is a big fail

Does the ceiling have wrought iron bars... that would be strong enough to support a hammock? I'm probably going to get a 5x8, so during the day, I need as much open work space as possible.

Nice work. We used E-tracks for our upper bed but adjusting hieght is not easy. Could you share the strut size/type you used for yours?

Thanks for the ideas. I’m working on one myself and wondering what the two things are on the back door that support the ramp in the level position?

How many pounds do each of your gas struts (for the bed) carry?

  • @Thewannabe95

What weight of gas struts did you use and where did you get them? I want to so the same thing but i was worries they would be too heavy for me to push the bed down. TIA!

I used 100lb in the front and 75lb in the back. I started with 75 and 50 but I have a heavy memory foam mattress so the 50/75 combo was not keeping the bed up. You will need to figure the weight of your bed frame and mattress into your strut configuration. The overall weight of the bed will determine the ease of lowering/raising. I purchased my struts from McMaster Carr at mcmaster.com They have a large variety of struts. I also have the rear door facing side on a track that I built into the wall with C channel aluminum track and rollers that I had milled from UHMW rod. This will prevent an uneven lift when you are raising or lowering the bed. I'll make a video of the bed setup and details in the next few weeks!

Could have put a wall across the back with a screen door with glass . That way you could leave the back ramp down. Otherwise nice build.
