I turned a $10K trailer into a $70K Modern Home

Introducing... My Cargo Trailer Converted Into A Modern Tiny Home! In this video I'm going to be giving you a tour of my newly converted 16ft cargo trailer. This converted trailer is truly one of a kind, and has a ton of unique features while keeping a modern design.
The space of DIY conversions has become so repetitive so I wanted to think outside of the box to create something that wouldn't only look really nice but also be functional for every day living.

    Nice build. You may want to look into securing your side door latch when you are in the trailer so someone can’t lock you inside.

    I actually attach the lock over the latches and put the side bar off to the side when I’m in the trailer. This was something I wanted to make sure wouldn’t happen. I appreciate your comment! This is definitely important and it’s kind of you to take the time to mention this! 🙏🏼

    The bad music is a mistake. Why have it when all it does is distract, compete, with what you're trying to say. Does your video need some help or enhancement? Just make it better with natural sounds. If your content, videography, and narrative are all you need, why on earth ruin that with bad music. I don't get it.

    Get rid of the chair and get a hammock. I've slept in a hammock for 4 years and it's the most comfortable. They are an acquired sleep but once you figure it out it's the best. I'm surprised out of all the camper conversions I've seen I've never seen one person use a hammock. It would be perfect for space saving and also they are 100% washable so you can avoid all the creepers and foul smells of traveling,hiking,biking,camping,BO ect...

    awesome build! That's what I love about cargo conversions, you can customize it to what you personally need, I really like the idea of the trundle bed under a sitting platform! Might have to incorporate that into my next build! Have you had any problems with instability while towing with all that weight at the very back? I had to re-do my camper to re-distribute the weight but I only have a single axle cargo camper.

    Thank you! I really appreciate your comment! I’m glad that it could give you a little inspiration for a possible future project! I totally agree that the Cargo trailers options are limitless! I’m looking forward to seeing how you take the platform idea and innovate it to make it better! Surprisingly the weight distribution has been totally fine. I think the reason why is because when I travel, I stow the batteries directly over top of the axels and those are the heaviest items. Once again, I look forward to seeing your design ☺️

    I didn't find this video, it found me! I've been considering building out a cargo trailer. Love your designs! I too, would probably go with a power system that's just easier to work/learn, and just tweak it as needed! You mention a couple of times how well insulated this is. Would you give a brief description of the materials used and the process? Or, maybe just get that other channel going for the build videos? I went looking for it and yt says it doesn't exist. Posting here in a dedicated playlist would work too.

  • @jacobwagler

    @jacobwagler

    I’m really glad to hear you like the build! Hope it gives some inspiration for your own build! The materials I used for insulation was 2 1/2 inches of spray foam in the ceiling, 1 1/2 inch of R10 foam board in the walls (foiled both sides) and for the floor I have 2 1/2 inch of pink foam board. I haven’t currently edited any videos of the building process. There’s a guy named Chuck on KZread who converts buses and shows his process and I took all of my inspiration for insulting from his video. I just couldn’t do spray foam on the walls because the owner of the trailer before me nailed plywood to the steel channels, so I had to work around that with foam board. Works great though, had enough heat to get me through -30 degrees celsius. Hope this helped! 🙏🏼

    Excellent build. The only thing I'd change if it were my build is to put the sink at the other end, because I'm a lefty. I would want my prep space on the left side. The counter could be used as a place to put my drink or stuff while sitting on the couch, and the sink water wouldn't splash onto the pillows. Otherwise, well thought out, cozy, & nicely built! 👍👍 Oh, and a big no on that snake on the floor... 😱

Unfortunately I don’t have a material list but if it would help, I can give you a brief overview of materials. I just don’t know the units of those materials off hand. Yeah, I was thinking Bus or Box truck but with having the capabilities to drive just the truck and leave the trailer if I need to was the best move I ever could have done! I love this layout a lot!

    Nice Bluetti set up. I have the 200Max with 2 180 watt solar panels to run my 5x8 cargo trailer camper. My only major draw is the Frigidaire 5k btu window unit. It runs on less than 300 watts and has a soft start for the initial draw. I do want to get a Bluetti 300 battery pack to insure the storage. I was hoping to see the draw from your mini split on your Bluetti. Can you give us those specs,,nice build and thanx in bunches 😊

  • @jacobwagler

    @jacobwagler

    8 ай бұрын

    That’s amazing! Sounds like such a great system you have set up there! The storage of the BC300 is definitely nice to have! So generally if I start it fresh on a hot day, I’ll need to be pulling more watts from the start and that usually pulls just over 1000watts and I run it at that for 15-20 minutes. It cools the place down nicely and because the place is insulated well, I don’t need to run the A/C for long because it holds the cold in better. When the trailer is cold and if I continue to run the AC with the fan on low, it runs about 600-800watts. These are all readings from the Bluetti screen. My biggest long term pull is the fridge. It depletes the battery a lot so I might try to find another solution. Guess you don’t know till you try. I appreciate your question and I hope I answered what you were looking for!

    First I want to say nice build. My wife and I travel about 200 days of the year pulling a nucamp t@b 400 BDL. Comes complete with wet bath, kitchen, RV queen bed, small dinette, 3 way fridge (DC/AC/Propane), and microwave. My second thought, just wanted to make some observations doing a visual comparison between our rigs. I am confident you could have gone with a more energy efficient and smaller a/c - heat pump unit. We have a Cool Cat and it easily handles our 15' of living space and lives tucked under the bench, driver's side of the trailer. If your Bluetti system can power the a/c, I have to ask for how long? Is there an outside plug where you can recharge your Bluetti from shore power? Given the under carriage clearance when you were pointing out the drain pipes, could you have considered running both tanks into one outlet and placing that further back towards the leading edge of your wheels? You didn't mention the size of the gray water holding tanks - if you are at a camp ground with sewer yep you can run the sewer hose open but what about when there is no sewer connection? No stabilizers and looks like no spare on the camper so assume you carry it in your truck bed. With this design, I would be curious to the tongue weight and your true loaded weight. None of my comments are meant as criticism but are simply questions from someone who has spent a heck of a lot of time in a small camper on months long trips. The one safety concern is that propane bottle inside. Safe travels.

  • @jacobwagler

    I know it doesn’t look like it, but with the standing height from ground to top of the A/C, it’s actually shorter then a regular camper. I pass under everything without issue. Also, it needs to be fixed because of the copper lines running to the head unit inside. The door latches have locks on the at all times when I’m inside the trailer so there’s no way for anyone to lock me in. I appreciate your concern though!

    I can’t get too technical on the run time but I usually just use it to cool off the place and shut it off so it doesn’t run full time. When it’s cooling it doesn’t hit 1000watts of usage.
