Cargo Ship Accommodation

#shipaccommodation #shipcabin #accommodation
Cargo Ship Accommodation is the living space where cabins for ship’s crew are located, along with other important spaces of the superstructure including Galley, Ship office, Provision room, mess and recreation rooms etc.
The accommodation of the ship is a place where the most amount of time is spent by the crew. Accommodation on board ship has changed a lot over the years. in early days, there were no dedicated rooms or cabins for the crew and most of the leisure time was spent on the open deck.
The modern ship accommodation area provides the necessary space and functionality to keep crews protected from the weather and sea, while also in some comfort.
Check this video on how the cargo ship accommodation looks like.

In 1953 when I was16, on my way to Saigon from France on a tramp ship, 4 men in a cabin, 1 draw, 1 locker, and 4 hours a day on the wheel. What a comparison. There was no other luxury.

I like the round tables in the mess room. It's something that Maersk Line ( and some companies ) can learn from.

I live close to Charleston SC so I see trucks with MAERSK containers on the interstates all the time. It's interesting to see a little more about where they are going and who is working on the ships carrying them.
