Hi everyone! My name is Cynthia, I am currently a CareerFoundry student pursuing UX design. In this video I share my personal experience and thoughts about CareerFoundry.
Here I talk about my experience with:
1. Scheduling calls with my mentor
2. Tutor responsiveness and communication
3. Using Slack to connect with my peers
3. Learning to use tools like Figma
and I cover some FAQ, such as how I manage my schedule while working full-time and other things I am doing to learn more about UX.
If this is your first time on my channel I highly recommend watching my video My First Week as a UX Design Student video:
• My First Week As A UX ...
There I talk about why I choose to go with CareerFoundry over other bootcamps, as well as what my initial ial thoughts were about CareerFoundry.
If you have any comments or questions please drop them below and I will be happy to answer them for you!
Thank you so much for watching my video and for your support!
P.S. If you haven't already done so, please subscribe to my channel to keep up with my journey in becoming a UX Designer.

Hi there, I am also studying UX Design at Interaction Design Foundation (self phased, without mentor) and there we also don't learn about tools as well but the teaching material is great I believe. Its just harder to keep track when you all on your own. :)

That is great! I agree with you, it’s definitely harder to learn on your own vs learning thru a program that can provide structure.

Great video! I really like the green plant in the frame. Also, how are you so good at looking at the camera? Everyone I know cannot unglue their eyes from the monitor! Keep up the excellent progress! I hope we get to see more onscreen work in progress again, it will be cool to see your work from start to finish. Thanks for sharing.

Hi! Thank you so much, I really appreciate your encouraging comment. I actually film on my iPhone, which is a little difficult, because unlike cameras I don’t have the flip screen. But, with proactive I’m slowly starting to feel more comfortable. I will definitely share my work in progress in the next videos, as well as my final project. Take care and thank you for your support!

Thank you so much! This video was so helpful. Are you planning on doing an update after you graduate? I'm really interested in how your job search goes. I'm debating on enrolling in the UX course. I'm worried that I won't be able to get a job after I complete the program.

Hi! Yes I will be providing updates about my job search. It’s definitely scary thinking about not being able to find a job, but I’m staying positive and trying to network as much as possible, to open up opportunities.

Thank you very much, Cynthia! It’s very helpful to have your opinion!!! How many projects on your portfolio will you have by the end of the course? Thank you!

Hi Aline! I’m really happy to hear this video is helpful. By the end of the bootcamp I should have three projects to add on to my portfolio. One from the immersion course, second project from my specialization course (this will probably be UI) and they encourage students to have a third one of choice- which can be from the Intro to UX or an external project (concept projects are ok and/or a redesign project) 😊

Hey! Have you posted an update video on what the job search was like after graduating? I'm looking into the CareerFoundry UX course, but am having a lot of trouble pulling the trigger with any one BootCamp because of how expensive they are.

Hi! Is this program for a certification in UX Design? I'm currently enrolled in a bootcamp with a university which I pushed the start date because I wanted to do more research on other programs out there. Thanks for posting you're reviews, they're helpful!

Hi! Yes it is. It’s a UX Design Bootcamp technically. Definitely look around to see which one fits your needs best, there are plenty to choose from. Good luck!

University!! I almost took the same route!! Stay away it’s truly Trilogy and they have a horrible reputation!!! They use the university because they get a small commission through the students.

Do you think one can just do self learning and still land a job? Or is it more difficult ?

  • @CynVal

    @CynVal

That’s a great question! I think many people have taken different routes to become UX designers. I would say having projects to display on your portfolio and explaining your design process play bigger roles than where you leaves about UX.

I agree! I watched this video the first time through an article on the Foundry website. They suggest it as an "independent review of the CareerFoundry UX Design Program" and actually embed it in their article so it can be watched without having to leave it. I came to youtube to watch it again because of that other video you mentioned. Anyway, almost immediately after I first began watching, I thought to myself, "Wow! She's good! I hope they're paying her for this! She could charge any company top dollar for her talent, professionalism, and high quality." Then I remembered the article said "independent review," so I figured they probably didn't pay you a dime and that made me sad. Girl, you've got serious talent. Keep making videos! You should really be freelancing or something you could easily charge top shelf prices for your content if you keep this up. #Justsayin
