The grades don't matter, but let's spend 45 minutes complaining about them anyway! :)

Love the Smith, I’ve seen images of them but never held in hand to see its relative size. Fun perspective on your submission. Technical grade and eye appeal or two completely different things. That can make grading a bit baffling

Of course the watchmaker called the spot a "pip" 😄

I just had a 73 Willie Mays graded by SGC that got an 8. I thought it was a 6, maybe. I guess it goes in a person's favor now and then.

The grading of cards seems insane compared to comic grading. I'll stop complaining about my CGC grades...

@@joyofcardboard3230 honestly, having a single mark on a card causes it to be a 1.0....and no mark or other issues would be a high grade....how is there no in between? Seems ridiculous to me.

@@SwarmofComics 100% ridiculous. If the mark is small enough, and there are no other major flaws, it can get more than 1. But marks are considered egregious flaws on cards, not only by the grading companies but also by many collectors.

I wonder if the advancement of A.I. will eventually take over things prone to human error, such as grading. I wonder how people would feel about AI grading? I would be fine with it as long as there were some allowances around "perfection" or there would never be another 10, ever.
