Car wont start just clicks once (Problem Solved)
My ford F150 wouldn't start it would just click when I turned the ignition. This video is me showing how I found the solution to my problem. This video is for any DIYers or car owner that is having a common problem, and would like to know how to track down your issue.
This is my personal vehicle and I had my starter replaced not even six months before this video and I knew it wasn't an issue with the starter directly. I knew it was some kinds of connection issue because it wasn't engaging the starter at all.
Don't forget to Subscribe and hit the bell notification so that you can see more projects the I take on as I flip cars for a living and will share my experiences with the jobs that I encounter.

    But ford's are the only goddamn car you can "jump the solenoid" any other car this isn't very helpful.... If he jumps the solenoid in this video I haven't watched it yet, it could be something else entirely

    Really appreciate this video. My 11 F150 wouldnt start. Battery seemed fine. 12.4 volts. Accessories worked. Turn key and get 1 click. Wouldn't take a jump. I had replaced the starter in the last year. Turns out, the ground bolt on the starter was loose. Tightened it up and she fired right up! I'll have to go back and verify the bolt size is correct... Or perhaps I didn't tighten it enough when I installed it. Video was a big help

Thanks though i was really happy for you when the car started. I hope I have the same luck. Sometimes i guess it could be just that simple.

    If the old bolt looks like that one then there's definitely some thread damage. At least flush it out with WD and a q tip. Look for metal. Better still run a tap through and clean up the threads. It's the one chance you have before it's stripped and needs a helicoil insert. If you don't have a tap you sacrifice one or two bolts. Going a little bit at a time and backing out, cleaning up the threads with WD and going deeper till it's clean. It may take several bolts or a file for removing burrs from the threads. Consider using blue lock tite once threads aren't perfect. When you are tap a damaged thread it moves metal,restores balance and harmony. It is really something not to be missed. If course cross threading,over boring and snapping off the tap are worse then jamming it back in the boogered hole.

    Yeah my 2001 v6 mustang does this sometimes it clicks one time but won’t crank but once it happens it won’t start there were two different sounds I was hearing though one from the starter clicking and one from something else after continuously trying to start it about 6 times right back to back it started but I don’t want to have to do that once I have it started and turn it off it starts right back up does this mean my starter could be bad if not what else could possibly be bad and how do I go about fixing it?

  • @Lifewithvic386

    @Lifewithvic386

    Yes it could be loose wiring but more likely the starter sounds like it’s binding, the metal unwinds easily when it’s hot. But when it’s cold it takes a few turns to get it to turn over. Eventually if this is true it will seize up for good and will need to be changed

    Okay so I need some help. Ive already asked three separate mechanics and they’ve all proven to be useless… They seem to rely too much on their OBD scanner, and when my car wouldn’t give them any codes they were all stumped so I hope someone here can help… Heres the issue, I have an 06 Chrysler 300. Every once in a while Ill try to start it and ill just hear a click and nothin happens… if I try again immediately after Ill get same result. However Ive learned thru trial and error that if I wait for about a minute or so before making another attempt, it will start right up no problem!! Anyone have any idea what could be causing this? ANY help would he GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

    looks like the person who changed the starter just put original bolts in opposite holes, one was just a little longer than the other, many people wouldn’t notice.

    @Sigmund Freud yes i did, i took it to the mechanics. My starter motor was drawing excessive current and refusing to engage as a result the whole unit was replaced costing me shy of 750$. took under 2 hours at the mechanics and it hasnt missed a beat since. Cheers

    The best trucks man kind has ever produced is 1998 to 2003 Ford tucks it doesn't mater take your pick Ranger F150 F250 and ect. By far the best well made trucks with almost zero mantaince almost zero blown motors almost zero bad transmissions and anything else they're mules they'll run forever almost never leave you broke down almost never leave you standed oilchanged ever 5k or at least typed off because they do need about a quart of oil every 3k to 5k so watch that brake pad about evert 10k or 15k and baby your In business next time your on the road look how many of these mules are still serving there owners strong today and it's 20 to 25 years later and still many many millions of these mules going strong thanks.
