Car Weaves Through Crossing Gates, Huge Train Coming, 2 Mile Long Ohio Freight Train CSX Main Line
Ойын-сауық
Car drives right around the railroad crossing gates with a huge train coming. The gates were down, lights flashing and the car ignores the dangerous train approaching. Obviously not a train lover. These are huge Ohio CSX trains in Fostoria, Ohio. The second train was also chased to North Baltimore, Ohio but only a small piece of it was shown again. Cars get hit by trains all the time in Ohio at level railroad crossings. I have filmed a few close calls. I filmed this with Millenniumforce on June 24, 2020 while visiting the Iron Triangle Rail Park in Fostoria, Ohio. What do you think about a car driving around the gates when they are down? Please leave a comment.

Back in 1996, I was at the B&O depot on Main Street when a car went around the gates as an eastbound on NS was coming across the diamonds west of the crossing. An off duty CSX engineer the next day told me that that isn't close. He said that close is when you stand up to try to look over the nose of the locomotive to see if you've hit them.
Looooooong slow train, almost fell asleep, but the thumping knuckles kept me awake.
You should tell CSX about that signal malfunction.
That's 147 cars/wagons on that 1st consist and 166 cars/wagons on the second consist!! Two miles o' steel coming at me would make me think twice about jumping the crossing barriers for sure. All the best to Milleniumforce there. Cheers Jaw Tooth. Stay Safe and Keep Well.

That banging noise is the trucks crossing the diamond there, intersecting rails joints! Yeah never a cop when you NEED one. Only when I roll through the stop sigh. LOL

First train: Slack in the couplers, is my guess, plus those empty auto racks amplify the 'bang'. Almost coasting with very slight power? At the beginning, I wondered what the 'tock-tick... tock-tick...' was. Bell wasn't working. Second train: Yes, the diamond.

@suncast45 Cop when you need one? That's hilarious. Wanna know why? Cops in Florida ARE DUMB at times, I have seen them drive around downed crossing gates with a train not far away, I have seen them PARK their LEO vehicles on the tracks at crossings and I've watched them IGNORE other drivers that drive around downed crossing gates directly in front of them. Stupidity is impossible to fix!
Fun watching trains with you
JT: A clear case of reckless driving. When I visited Jackson MI, I was waiting for train, lights flashing but no gates. Impatient driver honks continuously, doesn't see cop on other side. Barrels around me, just misses train and Officer Clancy does the right thing. RR worked with Jackson PD for extra enforcement and ticket was big, as it should be.
2 miles long wow one hell of a long train!
Too bad no cop saw the person crossing the tracks with a train coming and the signals and gates activated. That first train has some AWESOME tags and the "BIONER" one made me laugh. Thanks for sharing.
That was one long train. Thanks!
Some people are trying to buy a compact convertible, they just don't know it until after the train turns their car into a compact convertible heap of wreckage! Stay safe Jaw Tooth report any infractions like that to any authorities that are willing to listen.
Really good video Jawtooth. That one of the longest stack trains that I’ve ever seen. Loved it. 👍👍👍❤️
Nice job keep up the good work Fostoria Ohio God bless you please be safe and keep up the good work thank you
You got a good shot of the idiot's front plate. Maybe the Fostoria PD would like to see that clip.

Awesome action with these two long trains. I just cant believe people cant wait, must have been in a hurry Jaw.
While some videographers use a tripod making frozen position videos, yours are more interesting with live recordings that move with the action. More work for you, but much more interesting. Another great job!!!
Thanks JT. I've been away for awhile. It felt good to be back. Great as usual 😊. WOW! I didn't think that second train was ever going to end. The first was long but this was longer.
Had the whole gang on hand for this one!

Just went to Deshler and Fostoria Yesterday and they both had some awesome trains to offer!!!!! The favorite of mine in Deshler was CSX Q192 which is always lead with UP Power, and then in Fostoria a CSX had CN power leading a Coke Express! And this video is awesome!!!!!!!!
A modicum of understanding for the scofflaw. As a local, he knew the crossing gate was defective and unreliable; knew the train stretched to infinity; and he needed to get to the next crossing see a train with a better sounding horn.
You've get the 100K man Congratulations !!!!!
wowwww that was close!!
Love the ssss-sound that the wheels and tracks make.
In 1975 I worked for ICG RR. Saw the results when a 17 yo girl went around the cross arms and met the Amtrak Turbo Train from Chicago to St. Louis north of E. St. Louis. The front half of the Plymouth Fury traveled about 2000 ft. with the locomotive. The rear half only traveled about 150 ft. No survivors. :-(

Excellent Video Jaw Tooth 🌴🌴🇮🇳🌴🌴
Wow that was pretty bad. Have you ever seen someone get hit by a train? That would be awful. Thanks for the video!
Ah, I grew up in this neighborhood near the new train park. Heard those squealing wheel on the various wyes and the rhythmic cadence of the diamond at Columbus Avenue.
You saw the gates malfunction once in this video alone. When RR gates are known to malfunction often, people tend to disregard them. Require the railroads to make the gates more reliable and people will more likely obey them.
You should show the video to the police department, you have the plate and a picture of the driver. That's a good citation right there.
I was passenger in a car which had gone around the crossing gates with a train fast approaching. My friend’s husband had decided to be stupid and put our lives at risk. As soon as we cleared the gates that’s when the train went across! I’ll never forget staring at the headlights on the train! We were lucky but it’s the most stupid move anyone could make.
Holy autorack its another csx forever train but anyways awsome video
My buddy said turn in the license plate, you got a good shot of it in your video. When you see the gate, hit the brake!!!!!
Whew long freight train
Man I saw a train about that long in lap on virtual railfan cool find I guess that’s what the country needs right now
Good sounding horn
GOOD video
You all know the saying, "You can't fix stupid!" In the days of so-called Precision Scheduled Railroading, trains nowadays are simply too BIG, HEAVY and SLOW. Often exceeding the length of passing sidings, train lengths are more massive than ever, too massive to start and stop quickly. Track and structures must be taking a terrible pounding, for the sake of operating efficiency. Regardless, seeing a driver darting around crossing gates is a knuckle-head move.

Jawtooth, it sure was windy. I thought that your guest lecturer would never stop. Gate crashers generally suffer from poor impulse control, an antisocial condition that is sometimes misconstrued as going your own way.

Glad no one got hurt but very risky since you can’t exactly gage the train’s speed and can’t predict if someone one the other side decides to do the same thing at the same time...
That diamond track rattled some of my fillings lose in my teeth .
Aside from the idiot driver... That was a really great video! I really like your camera skills as you capture the surrounding scenery, not just the train. Great job as always!
Jaw, I don’t think the gates in the beginning of this video were malfunctioning. When the train first enters the circuit that activates the flashers and the gates, it also starts a timer. If the train don’t reach the next part of the circuit before the timer times out the gates will go up. The train finally entered the next part of the circuit and the gates started back down. The timers are usually set based on the the max speed in the area of the crossing. So the slow speed of the train caused the circuit to time out. I think the timetable max speed there is more than 40 MPH, because there is a 40 MPH speed restriction sign a few hundred feet past the crossing. The yellow sign with 40 in black is a speed restriction sign.
Good video
Empty flatcars, gons and centerbeams ahead of loads -- that could spell trouble on an uphill curve.
According to your map, this is on the CSX Willard Subdivision. The vehicle went around the gates on S. Union Street. Just south of that location is the Norfolk Southern Fostoria District Subdivision. The diamond is east of your location between Midblock Upas and S. Main Street. To the east of there is the CSX Columbus Subdivision.
People these days are in a hurry it's worth it lose your life CSX frieght no time to stop advice is wait to the train pass by live second chance unfortunately they don't see that awesome video jaw tooth in Ohio very long haul train bless you this week

Did anyone see the old Conrail flatcars with NYC markings? I figured CSX would have repainted them by now
"The longest train I ever did see ran a mile and a half from town, the engine went by as the sun came up the caboose as the sun went down." From Where Did You Sleep Last Night, by Leadbelly
Hey Jaw tooth cool trains why are they poking along?. Looks like vwell maintenance track.
Had a man with his wife/GF on a motorcycle dart out in front of train with a crowd around on a busy Saturday evening while filming, luckily he didn't get hit by it. As mentioned here, "play stupid games...". And the SD40-2 on the first train CSXT 8369 I got as a leader on BNSF about 2 years ago. Other than the Local/MOW trains SD40 leaders on road trains are rare out here in WI.
I can only imagine what the train engineer must be thinking when he goes by a particular crossing and sees himself being filmed.
Nothing in the driver's handbook about thinking, using your brains, or using common sense!

A lot of empty wagons (cars) on both trains. That second train reminded me of a model railway, sitting in the middle and watching the train run around you. That looks complicated, a diamond crossing and road crossings.
Shout out to the P & W at 11:00 , kudos to J T for filming the hole train no matter how long or short . Not many do that .
When to get to 100k I'll take that horse for a token of appreciation lol
Those freight trains are extra long to me. They sure go slow.
Looooooong one !!! That's why these cars had "hurry up" to cross 🤣🤣🤣 They almost cross to.... heaven (or hell....)😱
People do this over here in the UK..alas our trains go at speeds up to 125mph and all too often the car won't beat it.....
Train only needs to win the race at the crossing once, and they do.
Thats a good way to end up dead. Driving around gates that are coming down while the lights are flashing is stupid. How much of a hurry are you in?? On another note, great job as always Jaw Tooth. Your really racking up the subscribers bud, so im not the only guy liking what your doing, keep it up !! 100 K is right around the bend!
I got stopped one night in my town by a train that was leaving a side track it would take a minute for it to reach the crossing with cars on each side of the crossing waiting when the car behind me went around me and thru the gates that were down when that happened a car waiting on the other side turned around in middle of road and went after the car with blue light flashing it was state police. After train passed the police had him pulled over about half mile up the road.

What happens if the car stalls while weaving at the crossing....it's a crushed car in the neighborhood...
Wow you did a good job holding that camera still, I'm proud of you. When you want a cop there not found to go after that idiot who went around train gates.
Need the barriers i have seen in Europe to combat these idiots. They have basically 'pop up walls' or posts. You don't go around those. As much as i had dreamed of being an engineer as a child (and I'd still love to be in the cab at least once in my life as we went across the state), i am not sure what i would think if my train were to smash some numbskull at full speed with a load... knowing it would take a mile or more to stop, and that the person trying to save a few minutes likely died by his foolish choices...
