Understanding car terms is crucial for any car owner to effectively communicate with mechanics, make informed decisions, and maintain their vehicle. Familiarizing yourself with terms like "cylinder," "torque," "horsepower," "transmission," "suspension," and "brake pads" can empower you to better care for your car and address potential issues.

I mean, when changing oil , you change the oil filter too. Ive been doing in car service for like a month, and then quit, volunteered so i can learn abut cars. And it is the basic. Also, if you see your air filter too dusty/havent changed it for a long time, now is that day. Do not use blowers to blow it off the dust and think that youve done the job. Its still filled with small particles that you cant see, which can lead to engine problems, so its better if you just buy a new one. EDIT: Also dont buy really cheap filters, or parts in general, as their quality is close to zero.

Add brakes and roters, ball joints, bearings, struts and springs, change all four tires (meaning take the worn tires off the wheels and put new ones on setting the bead, then you got changing all the fluids ( coolant, engine oil, transmission fluid, gear oil in the diffs and transfer case oil) then there’s changing spark plugs, headlights, tail lights, fog lights, and if you really want to have fun you can do the full engine rebuild ( top and bottom)

Sometimes on the car with the dead battery, you need to ground to the engine block or look for a grounding strap on the firewall.

Clean your blades and your windshield before you decide you need new blades. Save the ones you take off if you do. If they aren't actually bad, you can treat them with wd40 and have spares. Belts cracked across their grooves have not failed. Belts losing rib material over their length have failed. Check for belt accessory drive update if yours has issues. Dealer service can answer questions if you tell them your Vin and symptom.

Changed the belt on my Grand Am what a pain first you gotta support the engine either by the oil pan or using a engine support bar from the top. Then undo the engine bracket mount from the passenger side. Take a socket wrench or serpentine belt tool and move the tensioner towards the firewall of the car. Take belt off and the do everything you did in reverse. The hardest part is getting the belt back on I recommend you go from the bottom up it’s more easy to get the belt started on the crank shaft pulley and work your way up finishing with the alternator. Also on the Grand Am it’s easy to also remove the cruise control model seeing that it’s kinda in the way and moving it gives you more arm room. It’s simple just unplug the wires and remove the black bracket holding it on and just set it to the side.

I wish there was a video that teaches you how to quickly check under the head to check if nothing is inside like rodents, leaves, what not. Or if no cable has broken from vibrations or again, rodents. I feel like my engine is overheating. The cooling fan keeps turning on after parking and it's freezing outside.

These are only beginner guides the matter is much bigger and much ADVANCED you need to clean the nozzles you need to replace the plugs you need to clean the burning chamber and you need to replace the air filter of the engine and air filter of the AC AND FINALLY change the oil filter
