    Hello it's me again guys. Here are my comments and observations on car crushing video number 49. Some of you may have observed these things all ready. 1. Must be the national "Year End Chevrolet clearance event". All the vehicles crushed in this video were Chevy based except the blue Geo Prism. However the Prism was sold by chevy dealers. 2. The rear wheels on the chevette were from a VW Rabbit. If you don't believe me look at the last car being crushed in car crushing video number 47 the brown Vw Rabbit that folds in half. You will see the wheels are the same. 3. The front driver's side doors of the Caprice, Chevette, and the Prism are missing. 4.the driver's side front wheel of the Caprice looks like an American Racing wheel from a pickup. 5 No Fords were harmed in the making of this video. 6. No Japanese cars were harmed in the making of this video( the Prism was a captive import). 7.No K cars or minivans. 8. We are going back to crushing weeds and sumac trees again. Can't blame him scrap prices are down.9. Someone cared about that chevette at one point it had parts from other cars on it. I am thinking Low income, College student or pizza delivery or a combination of the above mentioned. 10. Looks like concrete rebar or some type of wire mesh inside of the 1986-1987 Chevy Cavalier 4dr sedan and all the glass looks like it had been busted out of it. Ok guys post your love/hate comments on my top 10 list. Thank you for bearing with me.

    Cars from first to last. 1 1977-1990 Chevy Caprice sedan more likely a 1981 or up. 2. The chevette looks like an 1981-1982 scooter model.1983 and up had a front air dam and body colored bumpers 1976-1978 had round headlamps. 1979 had these square headlights but the 1976-1978 tail lamps. 1980 they went to these wrap around tail lamps. 3.The Beretta was about and 1988-1992 model.4.the Prism was a 1990-1993 model. They redesigned it in 1994. The Cavalier was an 1986-1987 model due to the wheel design. However it could range from 1984-1987 if the wheels were taken from another car.

    @@video99couk yes that is very true. Your Plymouth Cricket aka Hilliman Avenger was allready 9 or 10 years old when the Chevy Caprice and Chevette in this video were in the showroom. Everything sems to rust badly here in the United States where snow and ice are prevalent. They throw salt everywhere. It is ashame that you don't see more of the Plymouth Cricket here in the states. They only sold them from 1971-1973 at Chrysler Plymouth dealers and the Chrysler dealer network was indiffrent about servicing them. The Plymouth Cricket was victim to the US rust monster too. My dad gave me 2 used car guides from the late 1970's. One from 1977 the other 1979. The used car guide from 1977 listed the Plymouth Cricket and it had very low resale value. A 1971 model in July 1977 was only worth 125.00 retail. 1979 used car guide didn't even list the Plymouth Cricket. The 1979 guide didnt even list the Austin Marina. And they stopped importation after1975. I really liked the cricket.

    Geo was GM's attempt to compete with the Japanese economy cars of their time, the late 80s to the mid 90s. GM was known for building some pretty poor excuses for economy cars prior to this and so GM partnered with a couple of Japanese manufacturers to learn their processes and created the Geo brand to try to distance themselves from their prior poor reputation for economy cars. This was also the reasoning behind the development of the Saturn brand by GM. The Geo Prizm in the video was based on the Toyota Corolla and they were built at the factory that both GM and Toyota partnered in, NUMMI which later became Tesla's factory that they use today. GM discontinued the Geo brand in 1997 and the prior Geos still in production at the time were rolled into the Chevrolet brand so the Geo Prizm became the Chevrolet Prizm, the Geo Tracker became the Chevrolet Tracker, etc. Prior to Geo being discontinued, Geos were actually sold at Chevrolet dealerships. GM also worked with Isuzu for the Geo brand, the Geo Storm which was one of the original Geos was based on the Isuzu Impulse. Now those were really cool cars, if you aren't familiar with them, you should check them out. They were the sportiest of the Geo line but I do think that the Isuzus were better than the Geo versions.

    So does that also includes Metro

  • @brian5o

    @brian5o

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@jamespaluch3481 Yes, the Metro was also one of the last Geos so it moved to Chevrolet also although I think that they only built the Chevrolet Metro for a couple of years before it was discontinued. I believe that the only Geos around during the change over from Geo to Chevrolet were the Tracker, Prizm and Metro. There were also previously the Geo Spectrum, based on the Isuzu I-Mark which was only around the first couple of years of Geo but I think that one was also moved to Chevrolet but not because of the discontinuation of the Geo brand, I guess that GM just thought it'd fit in better there for some reason and the Storm which unfortunately was discontinued a little before the Geo brand was discontinued. Interestingly, sometime after Chevrolet got the Spectrum, GM actually built a hot-hatch version called the Spectrum Turbo which was actually pretty cool for its time. I think that they were pretty rare and I don't know if I have ever seen one however if I have, it has probably been decades since I have and I just don't remember it. In the mid 90s, a friend of mine and I worked for an auto parts warehouse that delivered to auto repair businesses and our employer had one of the Chevrolet Metros as a rental while one of the company's Nissan trucks was in the shop and my friend drove it. He was actually very impressed with it at the time. The Metro had a pretty major refresh either right when it moved from Geo to Chevrolet or right before and he said that the thing was really peppy and pretty fun to drive for what it was. I think the car really surprised him and he was actually pretty disappointed when it had to be turned back in to the rental company. Cars have came a very long way since then so it may not be quite as impressive today as it was then but back then, it was a great little car for the money back when it was new.
