Car covers DESTROY paint - find out why:
I'm going to explain why car covers, leather/stretch bras, over time, eventually end up destroying your paint. Most people don't realize why - we end up having to polish out scuffs and scratches. Don't worry, we saved this C8 Corvette before it was too late!

I share the same experience. I bought a cover for my daily and immediately returned it. The number one problem is dirt on the car. Even if you detail your car, put a cover over it, remove the cover and just drive it down the street. Bugs, dirt, fallout from exhaust are on the paint now. Once you put the cover back on all that dirt is caked onto the soft interior lining and acts like sandpaper on your paint. The more you apply and remove the cover, the worse your paint will look. Better to just wash your car regularly and store it out of the elements.

Yes!! Thank you for understanding the point I appreciate it. It’s tough because you don’t want to get the car dirty but the moment people accept that the car is going to get dirty no matter what if you don’t clean it, it all makes sense.

Completely agree with this, had my cars A pillar paint scrubbed off while I was using them. Any tips on how to properly wipe off the dust without scratching the paint. P.S. I do not have a pressure washer, use only bucket to wash my car. Thanks!

Honestly you’re best to bucket wash or rinseless wash. I know that’s not the answer anyone wants to hear. You can also use a good lubricant waterless wash but nothing where you just wipe it off dry

although all you said is true, we're not living in perfect world and I prefer micro scratches on my paint compared to hail damage, cats running over the paint, wind blowing branches or leafs over car or similar stuff that happen when car needs to be parked outside for some time. So for some porsche 911 that spends most of the time in heated garage you're right, for average car you're wrong, wash the car and use quality cover.

Couple things 1. Car covers won’t stop dings or hail damage 2. The car cover will eventually wear all the way through the paint and require a paint job 3. The car that actually sits long term without getting used a lot is actually the better candidate for a car cover. See 3:26 in the video

For real😂 guy is only talking about cars that are kept indoors. So it that sense yeah covers do more harm but like you said not a perfect world. If it’s outside all day everyday, what other way besides a cover would you use

@TheLionMLG allowing it to get dirty is better than the wind blowing your car cover and damaging your paint with dirt. I can promise you that

@@HarkerHeightsCeramicCoatings so leafs that sit on cars, sap, bird droppings all this is better than some micro scratches from a little dirt/sand? Even things that will slightly rub or fall onto the paint the cover with help a lil compared to no cover. I’ve covered my car everyday for the past 4 years. Yea there’s a little amount of swirls but I’d rather polish scratches. Not remove sap, acidic spots from droppings, and then polish scratches. I can promise you that👍

@TheLionMLG over time if you live in an area with wind, it will actually wear through your paint and you’ll be repainting instead of polishing. Also, constantly polishing your car will slowly eat away at the clear coat, and cause it to oxidize faster. The answer is to clean your car. It stinks, but that’s the difference between someone that cares about the paint and someone that has a car to get them point A to point B

what a crock of crap. The sand or dirt trapped and moved when putting on and removing the car cover is negligible compared to how much dirt and crap that can accumulate (physically too, like lizard or rat droppings) without a car cover. And if the car is ceramic coated or even just waxed prior to putting on the car cover, their won't be any scratches. As someone who owns long term parking storage for cars, the cars with car covers are 100% better condition that those without car covers.

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to comment and engage with our video. If you had watched the full video you would see at the 3:26 mark where I discuss basically the exact situation you are talking about with your long-term storage solution. To address your comment about scratching - ceramic coating and wax does not stop scratching. It may seem like it does under certain lighting, but it 100% still scratches (and I've demonstrated this in videos on our channel). Only PPF will prevent scratches, but even still, if the car cover is left to flap in the wind outside (NOT talking about your situation), the PPF can still be damaged. I polish cars all the time with damage - this car had a professional ceramic coating on it, and the car cover had rubbed the black carbon flash parts down to almost gray. We were able to fix it, but I spent over an hour polishing this car where it had all been rubbed through.

As a body shop owner PPF is absolute garbage. I wouldn't wish that shit on my worst enemy. Where i live its orange in 6 months and it doesn't come off without damaging the paint. @@HarkerHeightsCeramicCoatings

I’m not sure where you live but we live in central Texas and the heat is awful. My guess is you’re experiencing dealership installed budget PPF as I have not experienced this one time with quality film, even film that is 7-10 years old.

Quality paint jobs and OEM will not be damaged by PPF removal, but most body shops do a terrible job at prep and hence why no film manufacturer warranties on aftermarket paint. I’ve pulled off 10+ year PPF off of OEM paint with zero issues. That said, we are pretty used to fixing body shop finishing work as well, since most body shops are unable or unwilling to polish a car after using a rotary and wool with no finishing work. I have three jobs this month lined up to fix poor body shop finishing work. So between the chances of poor prep and poor finishing work, I generally try to steer people away from body shops if it isn’t damage that absolutely must be fixed.

Disagree used them for years and maybe yes a partical.can scratch the car if the car and the cover is. It clean. Even Ina a clean storage garage like I have the amount of dust oxidation etc uncoved vs covers I have cars 20 plus years I have used coves with great success and ones I did not cover even in storage age faster from uv air movement etc

The other factor is many people don’t see the damage they cause because they’re not used to looking for it. So I promise the damage is worse than people think
