Car Cover Buyer's Guide - Sorta

How to choose the right car cover - learn from my mistakes!
NOTE:
This video has no sponsor. I paid for these covers out of pocket and have given my honest opinion. Also, no hard feelings against California Car Cover Co. I know things happen, but I needed to return the cover before the return period closed. I would recommend their covers for dry climates.

Three questions: 1. Did the Seal Skin cover keep the car dry? 2. Did the Seal Skin cover scratch the paint? 3. Did mold develop in the car when you used the Seal Skin cover? Many thanks for this test!

Sorry, I know I should have been more clear on that. 1. The seal skin cover completely kept our all water. 2. No scratches that I've noticed. 3. No new mold even though I didn't fully dry out the interior between covers. Happy guy here!

I think it's better to have a loose cover than that custom fit. We here in Latvia have pretty much your shit rain and snow climate with mold special effects - I leave one bike outside covered, secure it with a strap underneath. Zero issues after all rains and snow, even tho it lets through some water - because it ventilates. Also strap allowed me to laugh about the neighbor who was going around the neighborhood looking for his bike cover after the recent windstorm. Also there are hydrophobic sprays you can purchase, I spray my cover with it after I wash it like once a year. I wash it with a pressure washer right on the bike, because it's impossible to do it otherwise. Then I bring it inside and dry it out with an air dehumidifier. Now I want to keep one of my e46's outside covered, also cannot decide what to get. But your prices are crazy, we here have offers in range 20-80 eur.

You need to have the car in a "tent". At least air must be able to circulate around the whole car. If you have something/anything in direct contact with the surface of the car that moves because of the wind, the paint willbe damaged. If the cover would stand the rain, you need at least to have the windows slightly open. If you have a car inside a building that isn't heated (for a long time) you also have to have a couple of windows open, otherwise the car more or less look like yours. Some kind of "tent" is the only solution! But don't forget the ventilation holes at the top of the "tent". Cars are not made for long time parking! They should be used at least once a week.

I thought about a tent or something like it but the winds here would sweep it away. It would work for a lot of people though.

The solution is to have a car thatbdoesnt leak. Just another reason in my book why not to buy a BMW. 😁 California is whack! Thanks for sharing.
