Car Boot Sale & Flea Market Report 20 August 2023
Ғылым және технология
The weather was really nice first thing this morning so there were plenty of stalls at the car boot sale or flea market 👍 and I was able to get quite a lot of tools 😁
The first thing I picked up was another Casio scientific calculator an, fx-85GT Plus in a very nice blue. I found loads of stalls selling tools many for £1.00 for 2. I got another set of all purpose slip-joint pliers and a set of parallel jaw government issue pliers from 1945. Also for £1.00 there was an 8" Adjust-A-Box wrench too 👍
Todays car boot sale was great with plenty of stalls and loads of goodies to be picked up. I believe we have a bank holiday next Monday so if the weather is good it should be a really good flea market and I will be going along.
Mrs Rathbone was busy in the garden this morning making a noise, you can see her later in the video.

Great stuff and video thanks for sharing your time And yes at 66 I feel very old haha great video 🍺🍺👍👍
Most of us across the pond folks would have said it was a hotdog or marshmallow roasting fork. Mrs. Rathbone not so subtle in urging you to "wrap it up, there's work to do out here!" 🤣
Very nice find, I really like that center finder tool, I've allways had to use math and other measuring tools to find a center of a circular object and that tool is very simple, cheers from across the pond
0.2 is equal to a fifth (1/5). If you add 3 to 1/5 you get 3 & 1/5 (3.2 in decimal) or 16/5. That is quite a respectful lot. The parrot head cutter reminds me of barbed wire cutters minus the compound action. Thanks for sharing and take care!!
Parallel pliers I think we're made by Maun. The green MOD colour is likely Army perhaps part of a vehicle tool kit. Nice.
Toasting fork. To toast bread in front of fire. My grand mother had one 40 years ago. Great find.
I like the last pliers you showed. They look really useful. I like the handle design.
You found some great stuff! That toasting fork is cool!

I have seen one since the late 1960s. Thanks for watching 👍
Some good finds there Nash, I like the Military pliers, they may be made by Maun who are still going, also The Eclipse saw is a useful tool, you can still get a new one for around £12 !
I prefer calculators that have less complications than the scientific ones for exactly this reason. It’s like having a pen that is also a spring loaded center punch that might suddenly launch the tip through the paper.
We used to pierce the bread through the sides so that it ends up looking like a spatula and then toast one side and alternately rotate the fork to toast the other 😄 I think some people even pierced 3 hot dogs on each tine to roast 3 hot dogs, or sausages
Nice video. I thought you had a sausage fork.
