Capturing the Hidden Beauty: Macro Photography Under the Night Sky
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I always tell you to go out early in the morning for the best results, now I'm going to show you. I headed out at 3AM to do some macro photography, I had to heavily edit this Macr Photography RAW video as the original was over 2 hours long and untouchably the battery on my phone died before we finished but you get all the info you need in this video to get successful shots at night.

I absolutely love photographing insects at night. I find my cheap flash works better at night. I assume this is because it's not competing with other light sources. Normally my flash has a horrible recycle time. At night the flash power can be lowered, increasing recycle time. Lovely video!

Hi Stewart thanks for a great video & just one question I'd like to ask, what setting did you use to get your flash to keep firing when doing focus bracket, it's a problem I find to be able to do with my Canon 600 EX-RT?
@StewartWoodArt
10 ай бұрын
I was using 1/32 power.
Awesome. You really learned the nature of the insects. Subscribed. I need a help. I have R5 and Godox v1. I can't use flash burst mode during in body focus bracketing. Its only possible in high speed mode (flash don't work if I set focus bracketing from camera menu). Multiple flash firing during a focus bracketing is really fun. In my case I myself have to move forward or backward for a stacking to use flash. What is holding me back?

Flash on Canon only works with mechanical shutter. Focus bracketing only works on electronical shutter on Canon 😢

Just getting started in macro and im loving the focus peaking on the m1 mark ii .the trouble im finding is when ths shutter is half pressed the peaking stops working. What setting do i change to stop this happening.

Hi, great video but one question,how fast is the mkii in bracketing mode ? my lumix g9 tooks 5 images in one second, the problem is the flash works only with mechanical shutter
@StewartWoodArt

I’d have to look it up but it’s more than fast enough for my work.

@@StewartWoodArt HI iam waiting for your answer about the speed in bracketing mode :)
So I have an R5, no flash focus stack. I bought a EM1-X for under 400 for live view. Little did I realize it is good for macro. I don't have a TT350o. I do have 2 MF12. Do you think one of these will work as well as your set up. I think the GN is 16 for ms and 32 for TT350. I don't want to have to buy yet another flash and I have to buy a 60mm Oly macro lens for this to work I am guessing my adapted ef lenses will not work with the Viltrox adapter. Did you try the MF12? If so is it powerful enough to not have misfires?
@StewartWoodArt
10 ай бұрын
I haven’t tried the MF12 on the Olympus because I don’t have a trigger for it. It was quite slow on my Canon system though.
Credit where its due ,a very good production .One question ,with all that gear in your bag where did you put your sandwiches .
@StewartWoodArt

I'm torn between an Olympus and a fuji, bot have focus bracketing that my dslr doesnt have, plus half the weight. Id lean to the 4:3, but then again why not the A7cR?
@StewartWoodArt

Double check the focus stacking of each camera, all though they say it can do it some can’t stack while using a flash.
What was the name of the stacking program? 😅
It seems that there is no chance of doing that stack manually. How to take 100 or even only 10 photos when turning th focus ring and always touching the camera let alone the model itself. What do you think?
@StewartWoodArt
7 ай бұрын
I’ve already done a manual stack of 28 images using the Laowa 50mm lens to show it can be done, the image is on my Instagram account.

I take photos for the stack with the sony a6000 but when I see what olympus is doing and this focus bracketing function ... wow, in 10 years the photographer will only have to turn on the camera and possibly find a model lol. It will be all his work ... the question is where is the fun since everything does the camera?

Believe me, it’s the photographer who does the work. With out the photographer there is no photo.
Why move the insects when they are resting overnight. Take the photos in situ
