Something to keep in mind with her powers: the thing the Kree had on her that they said were giving her powers were actually limiting her powers. She is pure Infinity Stone energy powered, so when she’s super crazy powerful at the end, flying through shit like a rocket, that’s her true power, earlier she’s limited by the device.

Almost would have rather for her to have a big burst of power rather than using specific powers to take down the enemy. Then in a second movie she could have came back and learned how to hone her powers. instead they had her just know what to do with every single one of her powers off the bat which was good for getting her into in-game quicker but made her look like a Mary Sue.

The big problem is the marvel multiverse (not just the MCU) has such a broad scale of powers that it can be problematic to show the extremes and maintain credulity. A single gunshot could kill Hawkeye, Black Widow, Nick Fury etc, but Thanos, Thor, Captain Marvel... they could level planets and there are even more potent characters than that. The point of this film in the wider context of the MCU is to show that Danvers IS one of these impossibly powerful beings. Once her inhibitor chip is removed she is practically a god. I watch these films more like episodes so I don't mind so much that Danvers didn't have a struggle to overcome here. If you are watching it as a standalone film... well that is a different story.

To those mentioning that she is powered by an infinity stone, don’t forget so was Pietro. Wanda is as well. But as we have seen, it’s taken a long time for Wanda to get as powerful as she is. As WandaVision showed us, Vision’s powers aren’t from the stone, but from his Vibranium body. And Quicksilver wasn’t ridiculously powerful, fast, but not fast enough to live through the end of Ultron. So just because it’s an infinity stone doesn’t mean she should immediately have her neigh unstoppable powers. Personally, I like the way they handled it with Wanda, progressively having her get stronger over movies. Same thing with Thor, whom is a literal “god”.

14:26 Actually, it's super hard to destroy a black box. Back in 2009, a plane flying Air France flight 447 was going from Brazil to France and crashed over the ocean. The wreckage wasn't found until 2011, nearly two years later, at a depth of over 13,000 feet below the surface. The water pressure was incredibly intense down there (about 400 times more intense than at the surface). Despite that, the black boxes still worked perfectly.

Pepper makes a comment about how it's a mouthful and they need to shorten it up. Colson replies back that they're working on it. I think near the end, or at the end, of that movie, Colson mentions the acronym SHIELD when Pepper notices. In this movie, which takes place a couple decades earlier, they're already using the acronym

It seems like a lot of people are with you on not feeling the emotions, but I actually disagree. I didn't feel that way watching it. However, I understand the complaints from Black women regarding the movie, and I do think there were issues with that. For me, this one was all about her emotional and mental struggle against mental abuse and gaslighting and breaking free of it. And that still felt big and true to me, through out the acting choices. However, I do think it was starting to become visible around here that they weren't telling actors enough, because they were trying to keep everything so secret and preventing leaks, but it didn't give the actors anything to work with and Infinity War felt really hollow to me because of that. And I do wonder if that was partially at play here too. While it basically worked for me, and I did get the emotions playing throughout it and so on, the storytelling in general in most of the movies was starting to feel hollow by this stage in the phase. (But then, I watch superhero movies for the fun, not for dark and gritty or anything. So, fun works for me!)

She's just strong in her own right, for her own motivations, because she's a warrior. No extra motivation needed. If it was a male character no-one would bat an eyelid at them "just" being a fighter jock who fights "because that's what they do". She doesn't try to prove herself to ANYONE, only ever herself. That's why she's so closed off. She's task-orientated and focused because that's her personality. That it isn't what we consider "likeable" in women IS the commentary on our society. That we expect women to be "emotional" in order to function or to be believable.

17:30 Why super heroes are colored the way they are. Early on in pulp comics, the coloring was very tricky. The technology wasn't anywhere near what we have today. Primary colors like red, yellow and blue were the strongest and most saturated on the page whereas colors like purple, green and orange were made by combining the primary colors in multi layered passes of the same page. So they'd put the black ink down first, and then primary colors and then another pass of primary colors to make some of the comic book page secondary colors. Since the secondary colors usually didn't look as good, they went to the villains. You can see this most prominently from WW2 comics up to early Ditko Spider-Man comics but somewhere around the 80s they started improving the paper and the ink and the processing. They still save primary colors for good guys and secondary colors for villains more out of tradition, and there's always exceptions to the rule.

Carol actually went by Ms. Marvel until 2012, when she inherited the Captain Marvel title from Mar-vell, with Kamala Khan taking up the mantle of Ms. Marvel. Another fun little fact is that while neither the Kree or Skrulls are considered 'good' in the comics, the Skrulls are usually depicted as the worse of the two civilizations (They both want to make Earth part of their Empires.) because of their penchant for infiltration and sowing chaos thanks to their shapeshifting abilities. Oh, and you might remember that we've actually met the Kree before, in Guardians of The Galaxy. Ronan was a member of the Kree species.

Good catch on the tunnel from the first Avengers movie. Nat's right, it's the same place. If you go back and watch Avengers you can see the Pegasus logo in the background

For one of my favorite Samuel L. Jackson performances, take a look at "The Long Kiss Goodnight."

I think you are one of very few who found Sam Jackson’s de-aging too noticeable. I was 15 minutes into him being in the film before I even put it together that he looked younger. I though he just lacked an eyepatch and wore a wig lol.

I personally think the de-aging used in these films looks incredible. I think the problem these days with younger viewers is that they really don't get wowed much anymore...they're so used to seeing amazing effects that they just take them as part of the overall entertainment landscape. When I was a kid, computer graphics looked like Pac-Man. If you'd told me that someday they be used for things like this, with this degree of realism, I'd never have believed it would happen in my lifetime...that was the stuff of science-fiction.
