C'mon, don't oversell him. He already lives on that space station, he just set the nav computer to establish low earth orbit before he started recording. I never really doubted their videos cause they are always usually in one take and in the same camera pan but lately they've stopped doing that. Especially one of the recent videos where they do a really long bowling shot in their parking lot and they cut three times while the ball is rolling to do different camera angles. It's like why on Earth would you do that and invite doubters like that especially on the craziest shot in the video?

Jaqen H'Ghar I think as this point they assume the majority of people watching them have accepted their legitimacy. That shot was also done by a guest who is (or was) the world champion at that sport. I have no problem believing that he made that shot. I would attribute the cuts to them sacrificing proof for watchability, since a 20 second uncut clip of the same view can get boring. You do have a point there that they shouldn’t even give haters a change to deny it if they can help it though.

Oh I figured it out. SultioboB. You’re right the whole thing was filmed on a nasa sound stage and the background was edited in afterwards along with the people to cover up the fact that he was actually in on the “moon landing” that “definitely” happened so that no one would get suspicious.

The ball in the cup routine is the same one as used in Scott Pilgrim where he takes the book and just throws it back over his shoulder into the bin. It took 30 odd attempts before they got the shot.

And his clothes are created using the 3d environment technique, as well as the spray paint. He is, in reality, completely naked (with a few marks to track the body too). It helps him and the filming crew (his girlfriend and his dad)

I just discovered this channel and I gotta say, I think you produce the single best content on all of youtube. This is an insane level of attention to detail and most of it isn't even necessary, it just serves to make the content that much better

@@slinq exactly, they make an art out of the wow factor without resorting to cfx shortcuts. the only "fake" part is how it is played off as a causal one-off, but that's part of the artistry and presentation. they seem pretty transparent that a ton of work goes into choreography and practice, and don't claim to be superhuman or kung-fu masters or something.

Damn that editing to make it look like he missed those first basketball shots were incredible! I couldn't even tell how he did that! The captain is truly incredible.

I love these more wholesome videos, with an inspirational message about the value of dedication, especially the part where he terrorises a sleepy suburb

To put things into perspective, watch "Here Come the Co-Ed's". That's a 1945 movie with some impressive trick basketball shots that Lou Costello did himself! Even back in the 40s, impressive trick shots were used in media to generate attention.

I love your humor. Its so engaging.

Anyone else catch that "have to move to Canada to find work" bit, I'm not sure if it's a nod to that documentary, whose message was, VFX artists are very underpaid and overworked and have to move to Canada for a good job, or something like that; if so, good Captain D to highlight a very important subject.

THANK YOU! Faked trickshot videos are painfully obvious, because simple objects move unnaturally, but most of them, especially the major channels, really do them. It may take a *full day* of shooting or more to get a *_single_* shot, but they really do have patience and talent.

The satellite isn't actually in a true orbit, it probably uses some form of silent rocket to keep it there. That or it's actually suspended in space and time while the rest of the world moves around it. Probably the latter.
