Captain Cook is so weird to me. i'm a completely disinterested party (i have no dog in the fight) but i can't find a definitive answer to the simple question "did Captain Cook sell slaves?" The closest thing to an answer i could find was "there are no records of Captain Cook buying or selling slaves directly, but he helped create the slave trade as a whole." Now i'm more confused. Did he create a system he knew would lead to buying and selling human slaves? did he not know what he was doing? Somewhere in between? If i do have a bias, it falls on the side of thinking people born before 1800 were probably ok with slavery.

Colonialism wasn't profitable for the British in India and Africa, they spent more on infrastructure and military than they got out of it. Australia and America totally different story.
