Captain America: TFA is FRIGGIN AWESOME!! (Reaction)
Hey everyone! Here is the NEXT film in the MCU: Captain America!! I'd like it if someone could explain exactly why Cap is deemed the first avenger (cause I curious hehe) please!! :)
But again... entirely shocked regarding this movie, I thought I wouldn't like Captain America as much as I did.... but yet again... I downplayed it and now I think he's a great character and I cannot wait to see more of him! The ending was really saddening to me and it broke my heart, first Thor... now this? CMON WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE
But thank you guys so much for all the immense support :) I hope you enjoy!

I love that they let Cap be so pure, good, patriotic, and goofy. His super power really is that he's just a genuinely good person, and when this movie came out I was so afraid that Hollywood was going to try to make him darker and grittier, make his motives more ambiguous, or make him lose his patriotism and faith in humanity. It was really refreshing that they allowed the character to just be so pure of heart - there are plenty of people like that and they don't get a lot of representation.

@Raven yes but I wish they would do with each character what's best for that character. Captain America, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Thor and Spider-Man may all be lighthearted characters but characters like Doctor Strange, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Daredevil and Punisher are meant to be darker and grittier heroes which I believe they should do since that's best for the characters in question.

Favorite lines: Red Skull: “What made you so special?” Captain America: “Nothing. I’m just a kid from Brooklyn.” That’s line that shows the True Hero never brags about their heroism and power. He may be a Super Soldier, but at his heart he’s still a man who wants nothing more than to serve his country and to protect the innocent. No matter what happens, he’s still Steven Rogers we know and love:) 🇺🇸

It helps that Nazis (or Super Nazis in Hydra's case), believe that they actually are superior to other people. Their ideology tells them that "a kid from Brooklyn" would be no more likely to beat them than a caveman. Captain America represents the idea that the real hero is the Good Man, not the Super Soldier.

I'm a big old fan of Cap from the comics and I loved how they managed to capture his aspirational nature. He's the kind of genuinely good person we should all endeavor to be, and wait till you get to "Winter Soldier" (still my favourite entry in the MCU) where we see that in more important ways. You'd also probably love the "Agent Carter" series. I'm still salty it got cut at two seasons and no satisfactory ending, Carter herself is still awesome and Hayley Atwell is just as wonderful in the role there as she was here.

I love Cap's character. As you'll see over the MCU (no spoilers) he's concerned with justice and cares about the individual. He's not "America only" propaganda. He really connects on a human level and will stand for what is right and protect individuals and fairness, even if his own country (or friends) get in the way. He's not perfect, but he's always trying to help the little guys and does his best to put his ego aside (sometimes denying himself too much).

A lot of people forget that televisions were first introduced to the world in 1939 at the World's Fair. Specifically, it was through RCA. Obviously, it would take another decade before television caught on, and you can especially thank "I Love Lucy" for that, but I digress. In short, the basic technology was there. Plus, the German forces developed some exceptional technology at the time, including working night vision / infra-red. The fact is if they really wanted to achieve security cameras, they didn't need a fictitious Tesseract to make it possible. Besides, a lot of we 'nerds' love slightly-alternate history stories where they supersized technology. Steampunk, anyone? ;P

One of my favorite hero’s introduction movie. What makes Steve different than the others before him is at his core he’s just a humble guy he’s not a rich billionaire with flair like Tony, he’s not a literal god like Thor he’s not a trained government agent like Natasha or a brilliant scientist like Bruce. Steve’s strengths is his integrity and while it seems kind of boring in modern world who these days would want integrity but its something Steve eat breaths and lives even after all the struggles from being bullied to losing Bucky he never falters or loses his conviction to do the right thing even if it means giving his life to save others. And even after getting beefed up by the serum he’s still got enough humility to just see himself as ‘just a kid from Brooklyn’. Plot was pretty cut and dry at this time of war you see pretty clear who the good and bad guys are. As someone who read the comics and knew the origins of Captain America it took everything to not spoil the ending when Steve wakes up in the present day I remember watching in the theatres people were lost on what was happening until that shot of Steve standing in the middle of Times Square and they realized it.

7:34 Weird but fun fact: In the comics, the elderly woman in the shop concealing the lab was a young woman named Cindy Glass in disguise, and she became Steve Rogers' first love interest. That and the fact that Bucky was originally a young boy orphan adopted as a mascot by Steve's Army Ranger company who became Captain America's kid sidekick after he accidentally discovered Cap's secret identity and the fact that the Red Skull was just a psychopath in a red mask didn't get the super soldier serum (until decades later when the aging and dying Skull saved himself by transferring his mind into a clone of Captain America's body) were three gigantic alterations of decades old comic book canon that actually improved the story. Peggy as THE love of Steve's life; the Skull being the first super soldier, Cap's opposite number and disfigured by the serum to match his soul, and Bucky and Steve being the closest and most loyal of lifelong friends make the themes in the Captain America myth so much stronger.

That ("Rocket chopper") was a Focke-Wulf "TriebFlugel" (ThrustWing), the one of the first Ram jet designs It actually reached as far as scale model wind tunnel testing by VE day in 1945. The idea was for 3 ramjets at the tips of the wings to fire up (After RATO bottles got them up to RAM ignition speed, then were discarded). Unlike a helicopter there would be no Torque to deal with as the thrust was generated at the wingtips. Unfortunately, given the steel metallurgy at the time, the RPM on the wing would have been had to be capped at 250 RPM or the wings would break off from the stress. This meant its maximum projected speed was about the same as many Allied fighters (P-47D, P51B/C/D and Spitfire IX and XIV, and the Russian Yak 3.... and that would be an issue as the idea was to make it faster than that.

I'm personally a firm believer that Howard made the "flying car" fail ON PURPOSE. I believe that he already HAD repulsor technology at his disposal but the government said to NOT release it to the public just yet. I mean this is the man who discovered a new element, but couldn't fabricate it because technology was too primitive. I highly doubt he'd have trouble with the flying car.

This reminds me a bit of our own technology. Ever wonder why the prices come down just before something new is released? It's bad for business to allow something new hit the market when many companies have large investments in products sitting in a warehouse waiting to be sold. After a set amount of time, then we get to have a go at the new stuff. But as you said, IRL it's hard to imagine what already 'IS' but is kept hidden from the public.

We are barley transmitting OTA in 2K, have ZERO OTA content in 4k, and they are now selling 8K Tv's in the Big Box Stores now. It's a money grab. By the time 8K comes to the USA their will be new TV tech to make those almost worthless or they will change a standard and make them unusable just like all the newer Bluray player have ONLY HDMI and ZERO analong outputs on them making old TV's unusable with them. Digital recordings started in the 1970's (probably earlier but the tech wasn't caught up yet) and High-Definition was made in the 1980's. It took 2 Decades (2002) to get it out and almost another to get OTA in HD(2011). DLP TV's & Projectors use a spinning color wheel, but that concept was invented back in the 1930's-50's with Black & White TV's to give them color but it was never made mainstream until 50+ years later. But a lot of moviegoers forget that this is not his first appearance in a Marvel property. He also played Johnny Storm (the Human Torch) in the first 2 ‘Fantastic Four’ movies (not part of the ‘official’ MCU). That character was far more cocky and rebellious than Steve Rogers, but Chris still made it work.

You might’ve missed it since this movie focuses on it, but in Incredible Hulk they say that Bruce became the hulk because they were attempting to recreate the super soldier serum and using gamma radiation The Hydra symbol is cool, it just annoys me that it’s an octopus (to convey they have multiple hands in different things) and not actually a hydra You don’t like submarines? When you’re in a crowd you just gain the ability to summon fruits, vegetables and/or eggs for throwing. And only in a crowd. Red Skull’s not technically faceless, he was disfigured by the imperfect serum he took. The face he was wearing was fake Disobeyed direct orders to save fellow soldiers that were held behind enemy lines. And he wasn’t punished for it. Very lucky. You might wanna remember that. •Yes, The Day After Tomorrow is a great film, but why is it that even in a new Ice Age, Houston still doesn't get any snow? •They had a body double play Steve from before he became Captain America. His name is Leander Deeny, a theater actor. •With the Starks, the apples don't fall far from the trees. •Why Steve Rogers was chosen - his heart. The flesh may be weak, but the spirit is more than willing. He is willing to get back up after being beaten to the ground and even to throw himself onto a grenade to save his fellow soldiers. •He's firing a Walther P38, which has an 8-round magazine. But it's a movie; when have movies not fired off more rounds than would actually be in a given model. •And like that, HYDRA became a rival for Germany. •That is his face; the face of Red Skull. •SO he went from a promotional character to an actually field soldier and America salutes him for it. •As someone from the South, I am torn about that statement. On one hand, it's still a US city. On the other hand, it's New York. •I could say more, but that's goes straight into Spoiler territory. •Well when Captain America's iconic cover is him punching Hilter, patriotism is essential to the character.
