I know this is late, but I'll comment anyway. using the fiberglass to strengthen the metal rather than make a fully fiberglass shield is honestly really cool. I will say, I think it would have looked better if you never added silver paint and let the star and silver ring just be the exposed metal, and then cover up the holes you had to fill with battle damage marks. That way you get that authentic metal sheen rather than covering it up

It depends on the type of resin generally for epoxy resin it is 2:1 resin and hardner
