Kasey, you can find thicker watercolour paper in Japan. Maybe you haven't been to a proper art store yet? I don't live in Tokyo, so I cannot give you a confirmed address, (but if you come to Kyoto, I'll point you to the best shops.) Here is what came up when I looked up 'Tokyo art supplies' on google map: www.google.com/maps/search/%E6%9D%B1%E4%BA%AC+%E7%94%BB%E6%9D%90/@35.6775048,139.6629675,12z/data=!3m1!4b1 Two useful words to help you when searching; 画材 (gazai) means art supplies; 文房具 (bunbōgu) is stationary. There is a type of paper used for sketching and light watercolouring that is like a thin cold pressed watercolour paper, called 画用紙 (gayōshi). It's very cheap to the point of finding big sets of 5 big B2 sheets at the 100 yen shop. There are also sketchbooks that use that kind of paper, so maybe that's what you bought. It works, but like you said, it's thin and also the colours tend to lift off the paper very easily.

Honestly, if someone proposed to me with that canned food ring, I’m marrying them no questions asked.

There are 300 gsm watercolor paper in japan. Postcard sizes, and can be found in Sekaido, Tools or tokyu hands. I believe you can ask the shop attendants to see if they have a catalogue of their paper samples. Very helpful. I like the Cotman watercolor pad and the is Arches waterscolor block.

They still exist, but only contain cheap and low-quality toys, and really cheap candy. I've still got tiny little yoyos and actual metal cars from way, WAY back. But now they're all plastic kinda-transformers that break in two minutes, or squish toys they can make cheaply or even weirder stuff. Whole thing makes me sad every time I go to the supermarket... :/

@Kasey Hey, I was stationed in Japan for 5 years. RIght outside of base there is a store called 'Kawashima'. It had a lot of options for paper, some known brands too. It is near Yokosuka-chou train station. Hope that helps. 😁

I’m LOSING IT over that chair illustration because 10 years ago (when I was 13), my friend and I made up a character named Chairbird. He was literally just a chair with a bird face and wings. He was also a vengeful god who demanded human sacrifice but that’s beside the point

There is a shop called Sekaido at Shinjuku. The whole building is for art supply and there are a lot of watercolour paper for you to choose! hope you enjoy your trip! Love your art 😍😍

@@shemer00 Yup! They wanted a better name, and one that wasn't related to China or anything like that. They shortened it. COVID for Corona Virus, and then 19 for 2019.

I totally didn’t even think about all the sickness going on where you are! Hope you guys (and everyone else) stay/stays safe! This is also a really cool idea!

Look up Koppu no Fuchiko, there are a few stores (plus eBay) that sell sets of them. I haven’t found single ones though 😩

When Kasey was talking about the cat eating the mermaid's hair I immediately thought: EAT THIS!

I remember when i was little, i used to go to a bakery with my mom and they had the beeeesssst capsule machines. I remember there was one that had little stretchy element ninja-dudes, and i had a bunch of em. Me and my friends used to pretend they were like ancient statues and line them up on a log i had on my porch. Completely forgot about them until i stepped on one yesterday.

Just once I want Kasey to draw women's leg hair realistically... Shaved from the shin down so I can wear capris 😂

Well PB from adventure time have gum hair and we've seen her with diferent hair lenghts so I guess the mermaid also grows her hair back

your drawings are lovely as always as for the thicker paper: I didn´t see drawing pads per see but Pigment Tokyo did sell thick watercolor postcardpaper 2 years prior. In a few weeks time I can tell you if they do but I think you can be there faster than I :)
