Capri and the Amalfi Coast | Nature Documentary
Watch 'The Gorgeous Wildlife of the Mediterranean' here: • The Gorgeous Wildlife ...
The rich and famous have a penchant for finding the most beautiful places and claiming it for their own. Capri has been a playground and popular hideaway since ancient times and has remained one to this day, with thousands if not millions of tourists visiting every year. But Capri’s most famous spot is not on the island, but below it: La Grotta Azzurra!
When the sea is calm, Roberto rows tourists into the "Blue Grotto" in a tiny boat and serenades his guests; the acoustics naturally phenomenal, he hopes for generous tips. There is competition among the paying guests, rumors circulating that some nationalities are more generous than others. Nobody wants to look like a cheapskate, much to Roberto’s delight.

I had the good fortune of being stationed in Naples for five years. My Saturdays in the summer, snorkeling with friends and exploring the grottos on Capri were some of my favorite memories.

Great documentary! Nice perspective from local & native people ! Nice background music & info.. views ! Real & informative
Best documentary ever of an Italian "hot spot" . . . all from the point of view of the real residents the villagers living off the natural resource of Amalfi: the land, the water, and the tourists. Meet them: donkey masons, Labrador lifeguards, operatic boatmen, stowaway piggy on a 3-wheel wedding welded taxi (say that fast!), restaurants with no access but by boat until the new road is built and so long as it is still summer and there are no storms (beats the Golden Arches off the Freeway in Normal Illinois, or was it Normal Nebraska? or was it Norman Oklahoma??? . . . as if it mattered), here the cantaloupes smell like sea salt and the women are always shouting at someone to do something while globs of shiny red tomatoes hang from the rafters, lunch in a basket on a string, the rhythm of the day lengthens but never ends when the red sun sets beyond Capri . . .morning brings early shrimp sweet as sugar waiting in your basket, without fail twenty-pound bail, Where's the Santa Rosa? . .. the village bell ringer gets on the gondola, he's late, he's he's late, for a very important. . . Oh well! Life happens. Besides, the ones who noticed, don't care; and the ones who care don't notice. Down there, they're rich. Up here I'm happy . . . Hmm. . . these cards are old. Si Vittorio, they are, minus 18.
I was supposed to go there in July 2020. I hope to get there in 2022. It was interesting to see the "behind the scenes" of the Amalfi Coast. it's work for them - vacation for us. Just like all around the world.

Just out of curiosity, before you planned your trip did you research a ton of the things or spots that you wanted to visit or are you leaving some things to surprise? Also what means are you using to get around , I'm afraid to go traveling because the money for transporting to different spots costs so high.
@r.v.b.4153
2 жыл бұрын
@@hatersgotohell627 There are certain things that are important to look into when you visit the area. I went to the area during the summers of 2020 and 2021. I used two different types of transport (car + boat/ferry) and had a conversation with someone who took a bus. Driving along the Amalfi coast (in between Salerno and Sorrento) is stressful, because the road is narrow, bendy and busy during the high season. The views are nevertheless wonderful, so people in the passenger seats are in for a treat. Driving through the dark is even more stressful, and something I definitely wouldn't recommend to an inexperienced driver. Using your own car or a rental car is cheap if you're merely aiming to arrive at your destination from e.g. Salerno to a village like Ravello. The issue is nevertheless whether you'll manage to park your car. There are more cars than parking spots in this mountainous region with its steep cliffs and narrow valleys. For this reason, if you for example attempt to go to Positano during the high season, DO NOT take a car with you. You won't easily find a spot to park your car. There was a traffic jam all day long when I was there, and I was really happy I got there by ferry. You'll probably have more luck when you get there very early in the morning. It is easier to park in Amalfi and it may be easier to park in some of the lesser known towns along the coast because there are fewer people going there. In both 2020 and 2021, I saw free parking spots in the harbour of Amalfi during the high season in the middle of the day (parking Berma). For this reason, you could attempt to go to Amalfi by car. The issue of parking spots along the Amalfi coast is that they are relatively expensive. We're e.g. talking about 4 euros an hour. If you're on your own (not with a family), it's much cheaper to find a very cheap parking garage in Salerno (probably outside of the centre), take a bus/walk to the harbour, buy a ferry ticket to Amalfi for 9 euros, spend time in Amalfi and buy ferry a ticket back to Salerno for 9 euros (18 euros excluding parking costs for e.g. 4 euros). If you nevertheless have five family members with you, the ferry costs (90 euros) will be more expensive than the parking costs in Amalfi. If you do not have a lot of money to spend, I advise you to think very thoroughly about means of transport in this manner. I do not know how much the bus will cost you, but it is very important to make sure you get out at the right bus stop, or you might have to walk a few kilometres. For an island like Capri, going there by ferry is the only proper way to get there, as the island is too small, due to which car access is highly restricted. The island is very expensive.
Beautiful! I thoroughly enjoyed watching & hope to visit one day. Thank you!
E, una Meraviglia!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕👍👍👍👌👌👌

I've stayed on the Allmafi coast at The Posiden in Positano. It has the freshes seafood on earth, the coolst resturant and club carved out of the cliffside. Good to see the donkeys fullfilling their purpose, that's what donkey's do...work. A lost art amonst the youth of today :}

Donkeys purpose ?
A very good video of an absolutely beautiful place. Just one thing though. Those donkeys are not mules. Mules are much bigger and probably could not navigate those narrow stairs.
That woman that owns the restaurant yes I would hit that in a heartbeat
truly the land of the gods !
This island is so close to my hometown yet i've never got the chance to visit there.
We will be there in 40 days. Ha ha. Capri, sorrento here we come. First we spend one week hiking the Dolomiti, then Rome, then Sorrento, then Capri. We love Italy…Turna Sorrento….
It hurts my heart seeing the donkey's working 😔I know my opinion won't be popular but I can live with that! They're such beautiful creatures and I feel they get such a tough time. That's one of the reasons I won't got to Santorini or places like this because I personally don't want to see them up and down carrying a lot of weight, I just want to them to be running free and having fun!
I remember the movie LUCA
Donkeys do not suffer at all for the ascent and for the load. A suffering donkey immediately stops and refuses to move. Basically they make a job not harder than the contruction workers that they serve.
👍😍👍Bellissima👍😍👍
That’s a walking heart attack
In the end, my own father died in the US, but his body is in Italy, actually in the same box as his stillborn son
There are day trips here from Rome, you can book directly from your hotel, includes hotel pick up and drop off
