Thought it was a genuine criticism of Fisher's book, and yet at the beginning already hear a quote from Rand, someone who even knows philosophy at their first year knew she was pretty much as narration-driven, with bombastic attitude in her use of sentences in her book, something u already critique Fisher's for. . While i agree with u that most thing Fisher told us in his book, already told by many philosophers many times ago. It was in Fisher's book that the idea of "There Is No Alternative" besides capitalism really popularizes in the mind of the people, even in the crisis of 2008, when most leftist would argue that they would abandon capitalism, and to their surprised to see that people are more willing to place themselves under the system that most people seen as "broken". . While i would also agree with you that Fisher seems to blame everything on capitalism, is pretty much insane. Then you could say the same about most French philosophers who Fisher take inspiration, like in the book when Fisher's talk about societal control, well Debord and Foucault pretty much already talk about it in their own similar concept. You could also say that Marx pretty much already predicted this, but he underestimated the adaptability of capitalism when faced with crisis. . It was true that perhaps Fisher should've used less post-modernish style of writing and told everything in much concise manner. But i think his message still stand, especially when he discuss about mental health and the implication capitalism has over it. It may sound insane, but when pondered about, it may be pretty much make sense. There's all everything i want to say about this explanation: I would agree with you to hate this book because of the popularization and people pretty much skimming it and then goes on without pondering it and critically think about it. But i would disagree with you about most of the content, which i could say, even though making little to combat the system, pretty much can be a reflection.

So because Rand isn't perfect she still can't say something right about socialism? Bud gtfo
Came here from 4chan bud. Great analysis
I would love to see a review on the mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robertson. I bet there’s a lot to unpack.
Are your other scripts still in the works?

I paused them, but will pick them back up. I'll wrap up The Virtue of Selfishness. Then I'll make a less ambitious one on 5 books that changed my life. And hopefully I'll make one on 1984, John Quincy Adams, The Prince and Malcolm X

Thank you very much. It means a lot hearing feedback like this. I saw your other comment in my notifications, but don't see where it ended up. To answer your question, I had the Virtue of Selfishness script written, and started recording it over a year ago, but when I would listen to what I had recorded, it sounded absolutely boring. So I paused it. I'll pick it back up, prioritize it and finish it in a couple months.
