In this video we look at the History of South Africa, particularly the Western Cape and the origins not only of slavery but also the origins of the Cape minstrels or coons. A vibrant event which takes place once a year in Cape Town, the traditional and integrated part of South African history, features much more than bands and colourful outfits but boasts a rich history rooted from slavery.
