Great job! I have a newer one that still has to be used. So far I've been fortunate enough that I haven't had to use it😁. Have a great week and see you next time!

I think that’s great that you knew what it was. It is probably best if you don’t have to use it but if you need one, it may be the only tool for the job. thank you for stopping by and have a great week.

Nice tool. I have couple of cape chisel (relatively new small and old really big one). Sometime use both for metallworking, but not for cutting key groove. Cuz my milling machine do this operation much better...)) In Russia this tool called kreizmeisel (i think, its german name originally).

Welcome to you from Russia to this channel. I can imagine it would take some doing to cut the keyway from scratch. The milling machine would definitely do the job more efficiently. Thanks so much for stopping by the shop for a visit and for sharing your thoughts have a great week.

That cleaned up nicely. Blue paint looks snazzy. Could you cut a key way from scratch with one of these or is it only for touching up an existing key way?

Thank you, I like that blue paint as well. I would be cautious about trying to cut the keyway from scratch. Generally a milling machine would work better. I think the tool is mainly for cleaning it out or receiving it. I also read that you can use it to scroll on metal, I’m not talented enough to do that but I’ll take their word for it. Thanks for your visit and have a great week.

I’m glad you found the show useful and I hope you also found it entertaining. no I do not make house calls, but I have a book recommendation for you if you’re interested. The title is dictionary of American handtools a pictorial synopsis. It is compiled by Alvin Sellens. Glad you like the show and hope to see you again here soon. Have a great week.

The cutting edge is supposed to be slightly thicker than the body so it doesn't bind in the groove one is cutting...

That makes a lot of sense. So, it’s like the set on a saw that gives you a kerf. I’ll get my mic out and check it. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with all of us and have a great week.
